What You’ll Be Doing

The Sr Operations Analyst - Capital Markets supports Capital Markets operations with a focus on foreign exchange transactions, trade confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, and related operational controls. This role requires strong technical and systems knowledge to review and analyze data, ensure transactional accuracy, and maintain a high standard of client service.

In addition, the role supports the day-to-day efficiency of the unit, identifies opportunities to streamline existing processes, and contributes to key initiatives related to regulatory change, system enhancements, and operational readiness.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Collaborative & Strong Communicator – Work closely with traders, banking officers, clients, and internal operational partners to support timely and accurate processing of foreign exchange and trade-related activities. Communicate clearly and professionally to resolve issues, confirm trade details, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Client-Focused – Support a high standard of service for both internal and external clients by identifying and escalating issues that may impact transactions, timelines, or the overall client experience. Build trusted relationships through responsiveness, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Operations & Risk Mindset – Operate effectively in a high-risk, detail-sensitive environment where accuracy is critical, particularly when handling activities involving client and bank funds. Ensure transactions are processed in accordance with established controls, procedures, and timelines.
  • Systems Savvy – Navigate multiple systems confidently and adapt quickly to new tools and platforms. Experience working across banking or financial systems and supporting system upgrades, user testing, or process validation is strongly preferred.
  • Capital Markets Knowledge – Bring experience in banking, financial services, trade operations, foreign exchange, or Capital Markets operations. Support activities related to foreign currency movements, trade confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, and, where applicable, derivative products such as interest rate swaps.
  • Multi-Tasker – Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Use strong judgment to determine urgency, sequence work effectively, and respond to changing business needs.
  • Detail Oriented – Review, validate, and reconcile transaction activity to ensure accuracy and completeness. Investigate discrepancies, confirm expected cash movements, and help ensure settlement obligations are met across multiple foreign currency accounts.
  • Change & Improvement Focused – Contribute to process improvements and support initiatives tied to regulatory updates, system changes, and operational enhancements. Help the team prepare for change while maintaining business continuity.

Who You Are

  • You engage with your heart and mind. You care about people, value strong working relationships, and understand the importance of collaboration across teams and functions.
  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice what others may miss, think critically, and apply strong attention to detail in a risk-sensitive environment.
  • You’re driven by collective success. You work well with others, share ownership of outcomes, and understand how strong teamwork improves operational performance and client experience.
  • You embrace and champion change. You are comfortable working through evolving processes, system upgrades, and regulatory changes, and you remain flexible in a dynamic environment.
  • You put our clients first. You approach each interaction with professionalism, urgency, and a commitment to delivering accurate, timely support.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your authentic self to work and live our values of trust, teamwork, and accountability.
  • You bring relevant experience and judgment. You have experience in transaction processing, settlements, reconciliations, and operational controls, and you are able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Exposure to foreign currency activity is strongly preferred, and prior leadership or supervisory experience is an asset.
