Role Purpose

What is your role?

As a Senior NPI Engineer, you will lead the successful transition of new products from development into manufacturing. Working closely with cross-functional engineering and operations teams, you will drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), process optimization, cost modeling, and quality readiness to ensure products are launched efficiently, reliably, and competitively.

Major responsibilities and tasks of the position:

  • Lead product and process industrialization activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, ensuring successful manufacturing readiness and launch.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives, process capability improvement, and cost optimization strategies to meet quality, capacity, and financial objectives.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes using DMAIC methodology and statistical analysis to achieve operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure compliance with Product Quality Architecture requirements and implement best manufacturing practices across sites.
  • Identify manufacturing capability gaps and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and equipment deployment projects.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers and technicians across multiple locations.

What do you need to have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Optical Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, technology development, or industrialization.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic cable and connectivity products.
  • Experience working in high-volume, precision manufacturing environments.
  • Proven project management and problem-solving skills, including statistical analysis.
  • Experience with manual and semi-automated assembly processes for complex, high-precision products.
  • Fluent English and Spanish communication skills (minimum 80% bilingual).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in optical fiber cable and connector assembly manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of connector preparation, polishing, furcation, optical testing, and cable management processes.
  • Green Belt DMAIC certification.
  • Experience implementing TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Early Equipment Management (EEM).
  • Background in optical physics applications within manufacturing environments.
