Job Description

Duration: 4-6 month Contract to hire W2 only

Location: Anaheim, and should be able to travel to Phoenix (Data Center) once a quarter not a lot

Must have:

Must have 2 out of the 4 certs listed below

Azure

SolarWinds for monitoring

Palo Alto

F5 load balancers

Key technical requirements and skills include:

Core Routing & Switching: Strong hands-on experience with Cisco hardware, BGP, EIGRP, and deep network troubleshooting.

Security & Edge: Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and SD-WAN architecture/implementation.

Load Balancing & Design: F5 Local/Global Traffic Managers and high-level architectural design skills.

The experienced Network Engineer role is not focused on a specific, large-scale project.

However, there are project-related aspects:

Involvement with Wescom Resources Group (WRG): The engineer will partner closely with WRG, which provides infrastructure to other credit unions. This means there might be additional projects for other credit unions that the engineer will be involved in as part of their day-to-day responsibilities, not as separate, additional projects.

New Client Onboarding: The role may involve project-related work for new client onboarding through WRG.

Travel for Infrastructure Work: The role requires occasional travel (approximately once a quarter) to the data center in Phoenix or to branches for activities like new branch openings or equipment upgrades.

Essentially, the role is more about handling ongoing operational needs and contributing to smaller, integrated projects as part of the daily workflow, rather than leading or being dedicated to a single, defined project.

CCIE- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert

CCISP*

Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Consultant PCNSC

Palo Alto Network Certified Network Security Engineer PCNSE

Candidates must possess strong experience and certifications in at least two (2) of the following four areas:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • SolarWinds Network Monitoring
  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • F5 Load Balancers

Technical Requirements

  • Extensive experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Cisco routing and switching technologies
  • BGP and EIGRP routing protocols
  • Advanced network troubleshooting and performance optimization
  • Experience with:
  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • SD-WAN architecture, deployment, and administration
  • F5 Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and Global Traffic Manager (GTM)
  • Experience designing, documenting, and implementing network solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network security best practices.
  • Ability to support mission-critical production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Cisco routing and switching environments.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize BGP and EIGRP routing protocols.
  • Support Palo Alto firewall administration, security policies, and threat mitigation.
  • Maintain and optimize F5 load-balancing solutions (LTM/GTM).
  • Monitor network health and performance using SolarWinds and other monitoring tools.
  • Support SD-WAN architecture and connectivity across multiple locations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex network issues.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure network reliability and scalability.
  • Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in network upgrades, hardware refreshes, and branch infrastructure deployments.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients and infrastructure integrations through Wescom Resources Group (WRG).
  • Provide support for ongoing operational initiatives and smaller infrastructure projects.

Project & Operational Environment

This position is primarily focused on operational network engineering responsibilities rather than a single large-scale project. The engineer will:

  • Support day-to-day enterprise networking operations.
  • Partner closely with WRG to provide infrastructure services for partner credit unions.
  • Participate in new client onboarding initiatives.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, branch openings, and network enhancements.
  • Travel approximately once per quarter to the Phoenix data center or branch locations as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
