Job Description

The Senior Manager, Distribution (3PL Operations) leads the performance and strategic oversight of third-party warehouse partners across the HSY Salty distribution network. This role is accountable for delivering strong service levels, cost efficiency, and operational excellence by managing 3PL relationships, enforcing KPIs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position partners cross-functionally with transportation, planning, and commercial teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment while maintaining high standards for safety, inventory accuracy, and customer compliance. Ultimately, this leader ensures the distribution network is scalable, efficient, and aligned with business growth objectives.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

3PL Relationship & Performance Management

  • Own end-to-end performance of 3PL HSY Salty warehouse partners, including service, cost, quality, and compliance metrics
  • Establish and manage KPIs and SLAs (e.g., OTIF, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, fill rate)
  • Conduct regular business reviews (WBRs/QBRs) with 3PL partners to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure contractual adherence and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains

Distribution Operations Leadership

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations across multiple sites, ensuring alignment to company standards and customer expectations
  • Drive execution of inbound, outbound, and inventory management processes
  • Lead peak planning, seasonal readiness, and promotional execution (e.g., holiday or event-driven spikes)

Financial & Cost Management

  • Manage distribution budgets, including warehousing, labor, storage, and accessorial costs
  • Identify and implement cost optimization initiatives without compromising service
  • Partner with finance on forecasting, variance analysis, and productivity tracking

Continuous Improvement & Transformation

  • Lead process improvement initiatives leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and automation
  • Support or lead warehouse management system (WMS) implementations or enhancements (e.g., Blue Yonder, Manhattan, SAP EWM)
  • Drive standardization of processes across the network

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with transportation, customer service, planning, and commercial teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment
  • Act as escalation point for service disruptions and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with procurement on 3PL sourcing, onboarding, and contract negotiations

Compliance, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure 3PL adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Maintain inventory integrity and audit readiness across all facilities
  • Oversee compliance with customer-specific requirements (e.g., retail compliance standards like Walmart, Target, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
  • 8–12+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain within a CPG or retail environment
  • Proven experience managing 3PL providers and multi-site warehouse operations
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost drivers
  • Experience with WMS platforms (e.g., Blue Yonder, Manhattan, SAP)
  • Demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement and operational transformation
