Job Overview

The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for all environmental, health, and safety programs across the Redwood City manufacturing site.

This position is responsible for developing a proactive EHS culture, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, managing environmental permits, reducing operational risk, and influencing leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.

The successful candidate will be a visible, hands-on leader who combines strong regulatory and technical expertise with the ability to drive accountability, challenge existing practices, and lead sustainable improvements in a complex manufacturing environment.

The Senior EHS Manager reports to the Plant Manager and works closely with regional and global EHS leadership and the site’s functional leaders.

This position requires regular presence in manufacturing and maintenance areas and interaction with employees across multiple shifts. The role may require occasional support outside normal business hours in response to significant incidents, regulatory matters, or operational emergencies.

Job Requirements

• Develop and execute the site EHS strategy in alignment with business priorities and corporate requirements.
• Serve as the primary EHS advisor to the Plant Manager and site leadership team.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, California, and local environmental and occupational-safety regulations.
• Manage environmental permits, regulatory reporting, inspections, audits, and interactions with government agencies.
• Establish proactive monitoring and escalation processes for environmental permits, emissions, and other compliance requirements.
• Lead programs related to machine safety, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, chemical safety, powered industrial vehicles, emergency response, and contractor safety.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and the implementation of effective corrective actions.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to evaluate EHS risks associated with new equipment, process changes, capital projects, and increased production.
• Monitor EHS performance, identify trends, and develop focused risk-reduction plans.
• Maintain effective audit, inspection, training, and compliance-assurance programs.
• Provide timely escalation of significant incidents, compliance concerns, and emerging risks.
• Maintain a visible presence on the manufacturing floor and engage employees across all shifts.
• Lead, develop, and hold accountable the site EHS team and external service providers.

What your background should look like

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• At least 5 years of experience leading an EHS function or team.
• Strong knowledge of California environmental and occupational-safety regulations.
• Experience managing environmental permits, regulatory reporting, audits, and agency interactions.
• Experience with machine safety, hazardous-energy control, industrial hygiene, and serious-injury prevention.
• Demonstrated ability to lead incident investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Strong leadership, communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in EHS, Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE, or equivalent.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, chemical processing, extrusion, compounding, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, air-quality permitting, and management-ofchange processes.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $193,800 - 290.700k annually (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
