About This RoleWe believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will: Provide mechanical support for the design, integration, and maintenance of systems on a variety of technologies, ranging from land robotics to unmanned air systems for commercial and military programs in a fast-paced environment. These systems are experimental and cutting-edge technological advancements that are intended to protect the warfighter in various theaters as well as provide civil support to many commercial applications. This individual will have an opportunity to travel, execute experimental military and civil hardware testing, and grow in their role. The position involves supporting lab operations with integration, modifications, assembly and test of ground and air vehicles. Individuals must be willing to support at remote test sites to support and maintain crew members and equipment during field testing. Individuals must be able to work from assembly documentation (i.e. work instructions, drawings etc.), parts lists, and diagrams to assemble, and install a wide variety of components ranging from small bench-top items to large ground vehicle components. May assemble by hand or operate semiautomatic assembly equipment. Operates electronic and mechanical test equipment. Responsibilities:Maintain and operate land robotic systems and support equipmentMaintain unmanned air vehicles and propulsion systemsTroubleshoot small and large engines and general powertrain systemsWork with hydraulic based componentsAssist engineers and designers with prototype development and testingSupport offsite testing and demonstrationsActively perform lab maintenance, safety audits, and material trackingUse small and large hand and power toolsIdentify and document work order instruction or drawing errors,Maintain logbooks and records.Strong ability to interpret drawings and schematicsThis position does not directly provide leadership or supervision to other employees.
Associate’s degree preferred or related technical training and 2 or more years of experienceBasic knowledge of procedures and technical theory in assigned product areas.General mechanical aptitudeKnowledge of hydraulic systems and theoryAble to organize and set up test with minimal guidanceWilling to travel up to 25% with international travel possibleBasic computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, database & technical drawing packagesEffective written and oral communication skillsMetal fabrication skills is a plusAbility to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearanceMust be a team player and able to work with minimum supervisionAbility to operate heavy machinery like forklifts and overhead cranesAbility to lift a minimum of 50 poundsAbility to work extended hours to meet program goalsAbility to multitask and prioritize taskingAbility to work in extreme weather conditionsAbility to work on naval vesselsAbility to work in tight quarters and confined spacesWorking knowledge of military specifications is a plus How We CareAt Textron Systems, our talented people make us successful. Textron’s compensation package includes competitive base pay and provides eligible employees with benefit programs. The pay range should be used as a general guide only. Compensation is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $25.58 - $37.88 per hour.
