About the role


The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components. This role applies engineering knowledge to support the planning, testing, and implementation of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
This job profile is intended for experienced professionals who apply practical knowledge of a job area and work independently with general supervision.

You will be responsible for handling order-related engineering and design in support of fulfilling customer orders on municipal water pumps, systems and accessories.

qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; significant directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to document clearly and effectively at a high level both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in a fast-paced mechanical design environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pumping systems.
  • Experience with mechanical design of rotating equipment
  • Mainly 7 to 8+ years of industrial experience in Vertical Pump Design & Engineering
  • Experience working with an MRP system as SAP
  • Experience working with 3D Inventor software, 2D AutoCAD & Siemens NX.

Key responsibilities

Team-Up

· Provide technical support to Sales Managers and Applications Engineers during the sales phase.

Execute

  • Create and enter part numbers, BOMs, and other data in MRP in support of order entry, procurement, and manufacturing processes.

Adapt

· Develop fabrication drawings for assemblies and components as required in support of internal and external manufacturing units and suppliers.

· Develop engineering data in support of engineering and structural analyses.

Motivate

  • Work on multiple projects to meet established schedules.

Listen

  • Work closely with Applications Engineers to understand project requirements and generate engineering data in support of internal and external manufacturing units and suppliers.

Engage

  • Develop data as required in support of marketing communications and other various go-to-market efforts, including data required by certifying agencies such as UL, NSF. AWWA,
  • Develop, organize, and maintain technical data and documentation of products and accessories in a standardized system for ease of access and control.

Act

  • Prepare order related engineering designs, drawings, and data in support of the submittal process on projects.

Decide

  • Source third-party products for use as ancillary and accessory solutions.

skills

  • Broad understanding of National and International specifications/standards/codes such as ASTM, ANSI, AISI, ASME, ISO, DIN, NEMA, NEC, IEC.
  • Strong understanding of machine design concepts such as structural analysis, properties of materials, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing along with knowledge of manufacturing and fabrications processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work individually or as part of a team.
