Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Supports the device manufacturing operations and interfaces with all functional groups. Effectively plans, selects and implements a variety of injection molding assembly technologies and methods for cost effective and efficient manufacturing of devices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigates root cause solutions for product release through nonconformance reports (NCR), corrective and preventative actions (CAPA), material containment and hold forms (MCH) and affected lot hold forms (ALH).
  • Efficiently resolves raw material, process, equipment, and training issues on the production floor. Develops and implements corrective actions as required.
  • Leads/participates in team exercises to investigate and implement proactive solutions within the injection molding department.
  • Processes, develops tests, analyzes the data, and makes recommendations.
  • Implementing lean manufacturing strategies to streamline processes and eliminate non-value added activities.
  • Works with internal & external partners to develop potential product and process improvements.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situation or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Builds productive working relationships.
  • May provide technical injection molding expertise and guidance for mold design, validation, continuous improvement and troubleshooting to junior level staff, as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • May refer to senior level staff for assistance with higher level problems that may arise.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 2 – 5 years’ related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Preferred Manufacturing Molding Engineering experience in a medical device company.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem solving and development.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Preferred injection molding experience. Process parameter development, scientific/decoupled molding, mold design, RJG Master molder a plus.
  • Preferred working knowledge of polymers (engineering and non) used for injection molding of medical components with processing and engineering experience in polymer molding and processing.
  • Multi-discipline engineering experience in manufacturing, mechanical, computer engineering, etc.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing philosophies, tools, and methods.
  • Able to work independently and complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Self-motivated and directed. Capable of scheduling and prioritizing a variety of projects and requests for technical support.
  • Progressively thinking outside the box is pivotal to this position. With proven ability to lead and motivate both a development team as well as users and operators.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications.
