Position Specific Description

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills, an ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and the resourcefulness to handle challenges while collaborating with cross-functional team members. Forming impactful internal and external relationships is crucial. A successful applicant will have the acumen to swiftly align NextEra’s broad array of products and services with the specific needs of each customer, thereby unlocking business potential.

This role will focus on power utility and energy retailer customers with initial emphasis on PJM markets, spanning strategic market assessment and analysis of customer resource plans and future needs, customer outreach and relationship building, co-development and delivery of PPA and build transfer proposals, and an active role in long term contract negotiations. Potential technology product scope includes battery storage, solar, wind, gas and nuclear energy.

Experience with at least one (preferably more) of the following is preferred: PPAs or build transfer agreements; technologies including battery storage, solar, wind, gas and nuclear energy; interaction with power utilities and energy retailers in an ISO/RTO market; and familiarity with PJM market dynamics.

This role could be remote within the central or eastern US, or based in NextEra’s HQ offices in Juno Beach, FL. This position will require the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Job Overview

Employees in this role will lead significant origination efforts for NextEra Energy. This position is responsible for developing key customer relationships, as well as negotiating and executing complex structured transactions across various NextEra Energy product offerings.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Qualify business targets using customer needs to evaluate the commercial potential
• Identify high-value contacts at potential business targets
• Develop strong relationships with high-level contacts via in-person interactions which will require travel
• Perform analysis of customer plans, needs and related market issues
• Drive in-depth discussions with contacts to understand customer needs and match those to NextEra’s capabilities and solutions
• Understand the key factors in customer corporate decision-making regarding energy needs, including sustainability targets, affordability and reliability goals and power market dynamics
• Understand the fundamentals of all of NextEra’s energy and capacity solutions, including benefits, challenges, as well as relevant policies and incentives
• Navigate NextEra’s internal organization, building relevant relationships with key subject matter experts and product owners in order to coordinate and enable cross-functional solutions
• Participate in and, where appropriate, lead transaction negotiations
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

• Education: Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
• Experience: 6+ years

• MBA or other relevant Master’s Degree
