Job Description

Lead and support the day to functions of shipping, receiving and material storage for multiple areas and/or locations for the Vertiv manufacturing, distribution or warehouse operations. Interface between numerous departments to track inbound material, finished good product, coordinate complete orders, schedule deliveries for customers and ensure high quality outbound shipments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer Vertiv´s internal and external warehouses, 3PL and cross border facilities.
  • Getting Information through Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Set performance goals for the shipping, receiving and material handling departments and establish actions plans to meet them.
  • Ensure storage and distribution activities are performed according to safe regulations and policies to minimize the risk of employee injury and material damage.
  • Drive compliance to tender lead-times for outbound carrier notifications.
  • Assure product shipments are customs compliant.
  • Keep staff fully trained and compliant with regulations
  • Responsible for the security of the finished goods transportation and disposition.
  • Conduct performance reviews for team members
  • Lead lean, cost savings and continuous improvement projects related to shipping, space optimization, materials handling and storage.
  • Generates regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Point of contact for customer service for shipping documentation or information.
  • Point of contact for production for material in transit.
  • Troubleshoot issues directly with carriers on pick-ups and deliveries at jobsites.
  • Assure smooth relationships with Vertiv’s preferred daily carriers and schedules various special transportation requests from the sales offices or customers.
  • Coordinate and address changes or delivery issues with carrier.
  • Execute shipments with preferred carriers scheduling outbound carriers per company routing guide and Supply Chain Optimization portal.
  • Import compliance - Maintains document storage to proper guidelines per Vertiv and US Customs record retention policies.
  • Export compliance - Maintains proper guidelines for document storage per the Vertiv and US Customs record retention policies.
  • Retains all required documentation through Record Retention process. Troubleshoot any issues.
  • Answer inquiries from customer service, sales offices, planning, and carriers for in-transit material
  • Import tracking - Point of contact for buyer/planners to locate shipments in transit and coordinate their delivery.
  • Coordinates with designated freight forwarders to ship products in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Provides International Sales and Logistics personnel shipment information and documentation for visibility to customer.
  • Accurate and timely communication to customers, planners, and subsidiaries on their shipments.
  • Quick and complete coordination of domestic outbound shipments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Low volume, high mix manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in distribution in a global manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems or other manufacturing/purchasing systems and Windows-based PC programs.
  • General knowledge of modern warehouses and inventory practices.
  • Knowledgeable of domestic and international shipping requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations, with 5+ years in a leadership role, ideally in a high-volume or complex environment.
  • Proven experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies; certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) experience implementing or optimizing systems such as SAP EWM, Oracle, Manhattan, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage change, and influence across different departments (e.g., logistics, planning, procurement, quality, and manufacturing)

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration or Engineering, master’s degree is preferable
