The Position:

We are looking for a results-oriented and technically proficient Senior Manager of Software Development to lead a dynamic team of developers specializing in Salesforce, AWS, and other key software technologies. This person is responsible for leading the design, delivery, and ongoing support of enterprise Salesforce solutions that enable business growth, operational efficiency, and high-quality user experiences. This role manages a team of Salesforce engineers, developers, administrators, and technical leads while partnering closely with product owners, business stakeholders, architecture, security, infrastructure, and other technology teams.

The Senior Salesforce Engineering Manager provides both technical and people leadership, ensuring Salesforce platforms are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business priorities. This individual is expected to guide complex initiatives, make sound technical decisions, develop talent, and drive continuous improvement across Salesforce engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Salesforce engineers, developers, administrators, and technical leads.
  • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support career development for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive team culture.
  • Manage team capacity, resource planning, hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Encourage engineering best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Salesforce Platform Delivery

  • Oversee the design, development, configuration, testing, deployment, and support of Salesforce solutions.
  • Ensure Salesforce implementations are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Partner with business and product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Manage delivery across multiple Salesforce clouds and capabilities, such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Health Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, or custom Salesforce applications.
  • Ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.

Technical Strategy and Architecture

  • Provide technical direction and decision-making for Salesforce platform design and engineering.
  • Partner with enterprise architects and technical leads to define long-term Salesforce platform strategy.
  • Evaluate technical options and provide recommendations, including risks, trade-offs, dependencies, and implementation impacts.
  • Ensure proper use of Salesforce native capabilities, custom development, integrations, automation, and data models.
  • Promote reusable components, standard patterns, and sustainable platform design.

Delivery, Operations, and Support

  • Manage multiple complex projects, enhancements, and sustainment activities in parallel.
  • Oversee release management, deployment planning, environment strategy, and DevOps practices for Salesforce.
  • Ensure production issues are triaged, communicated, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Drive operational excellence through monitoring, documentation, process improvement, and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain platform reliability, performance, security, and compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, product owners, technology partners, vendors, and leadership.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate decision-making across teams when priorities, scope, or technical approaches need alignment.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on Salesforce capabilities, platform constraints, delivery options, and best practices.
  • Support change management and adoption efforts for Salesforce solutions.

Governance, Compliance, and Best Practices

  • Ensure Salesforce engineering work follows company standards for security, data privacy, compliance, documentation, and quality.
  • Establish and maintain development standards, code review practices, testing expectations, and deployment controls.
  • Support audit, validation, and regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Monitor Salesforce platform usage, licensing, integrations, and technical debt.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, and improve the platform.

Who You Are:

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, application engineering, or enterprise technology delivery.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role, leading development teams or technical programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Significant experience delivering Salesforce solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Prior experience managing or leading Salesforce engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities, configuration, customization, integrations, security model, data model, and release management.
  • Experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, APIs, SOQL, Salesforce DevOps, and integration patterns.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technology initiatives from planning through delivery and support.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, hiring, performance management, and team development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and senior leadership.
  • Experience managing competing priorities, project risks, dependencies, and resource constraints.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational navigation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce certifications such as (or equivalent to):
    • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I or II
    • Salesforce Certified Administrator
    • Salesforce Certified Application Architect
    • Salesforce Certified System Architect
    • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect
    • Salesforce Certified Service Cloud Consultant or Sales Cloud Consultant
  • Experience with Salesforce Health Cloud, Marketing Cloud, MuleSoft, Data Cloud, or Experience Cloud.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as healthcare, life sciences, financial services, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Copado, Gearset, Salesforce DX, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Experience managing vendor or implementation partner relationships.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, validation, and security practices.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience, skillset, geographic location, industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
