- This job is a member of the Fleet PMO (Program Management Office) within the Finance Division.
- Responsible for managing large-scale cross-departmental fleet projects that are strategic to meeting American Airline's objectives.
- Responsible for the processes, reporting, and communications at the project portfolio level.
What you'll do
- Manages project plans, budgets, project risks, issues, and change control.
- Coordinates across multiple departments, including areas such as Technical Operations (Engineering, Maintenance & Planning), Customer Experience, Network Planning, Finance, In-Flight, Flight Ops, Marketing, and Corp Communications.
- Holds external partners and internal groups accountable for delivery of tasks and assignments.
- Challenges the status quo and keep airline interest in the forefront of decision-making process.
- Works with relevant stakeholder groups to continually identify strategic opportunities and synergies across the portfolio of projects.
- Manages the interdependencies between projects – specifically with respect to timing of decisions and resources.
- Responsible for tracking the financial performance of projects, ensuring adherence to budget and explanation of variances.
- Introduces process improvements across the portfolio and ensures alignment of PM processes throughout the company.
- Develops appropriate metrics, dashboards, and reports to communicate project health.
- Provides project updates to numerous audiences, including all stakeholders, Steering Committees and senior executives.
- Responsible for collecting feedback and lessons learned from projects and incorporating into future projects and processes.
- Mentors and leads all Project Managers within the PMO (Program Management Office).
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training
- 5+ years Project Management experience
- Basic understanding of airline/aircraft economics
- Familiarity with Maintenance and Engineering/Technical Operations
- Aviation experience is a must
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Master’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
- Planning and/or analysis experience in one or more airline areas
- Supply chain/procurement experience
- 5 years Project Management experience with aircraft modification programs demonstrating cross-departmental coordination
- PMP Certification
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Solid understanding of business transformation efforts
- Solid knowledge of standard Project Management frameworks, principles, processes, and tools
- Proficiency in MS Office Products particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Smartsheet
- Ability to comfortably and persuasively interact with personnel at all levels within AA
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving
- Demonstrated ability to perform both independently and as a team member, oversee multiple assignments, complete projects on time, and perform under pressure
