The role applies rigorous literature evaluation and clinical judgment to ensure scientific accuracy and consistency in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and established review processes. Although aligned to Medical Information & Scientific Responses, the role operates as part of one integrated Medical Affairs organization and is expected to contribute expertise and work across the department as organizational priorities require.

What you'll be doing

  • Research, develop, communicate, and document accurate, balanced, and timely responses to unsolicited medical, clinical, and scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals, customers, and appropriate internal stakeholders, including escalated and off-label inquiries, in accordance with local applicable requirements and company policy.
  • Independently lead significant Medical Affairs initiatives, special projects, or complex workstreams from scoping and strategy through execution, stakeholder alignment, risk management, delivery, and evaluation of outcomes. Assess and identify operational gaps, implement solutions to drive initiatives that improve and streamline current processes within Medical Information to improve medical communication services to internal and external customers.
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically refresh standard response documents, frequently asked questions, scientific slide decks, clinical summaries, medical content, bibliographies, and other approved scientific resources used to support consistent Medical Affairs communication within the approved Content Management repository.
  • Maintain current familiarity of published medical literature. Conduct structured literature searches and critically evaluate published evidence, clinical practice guidelines, product information, and relevant scientific data to support medical responses and scientific content. Independently design and lead significant Medical Information initiatives such as scientific response strategy.
  • Provide medical and scientific review of promotional and non-promotional materials through established governance processes, evaluating scientific accuracy, substantiation, balance, clinical relevance, and consistency with approved labeling and applicable requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate VOC trends in medical information requests, evidence gaps, clinical practice, and emerging literature to External Scientific Engagement, Medical Excellence & Strategy, and other appropriate stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external scientific education, as appropriate, including disease-state, product, clinical, and evidence-based training in partnership with Medical Affairs colleagues and relevant functional experts.
  • Provide clinical and scientific input to Regulatory, Quality, Patient Safety, R&D, Marketing, Commercial, and other functions when appropriate, including support related to product complaints, safety questions, launches, and customer needs within established Medical Affairs boundaries.
  • Lead and support medical information activities associated with product launches, congresses, scientific booths, and other Medical Affairs initiatives, ensuring readiness of scientific content and response materials.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with the scope, purpose, and level of the role, as assigned, to support evolving Medical Affairs and organizational priorities.

What you'll bring

  • Excellent medical and scientific writing, oral communication, and literature-search skills, with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex evidence into accurate, balanced, and audience-appropriate scientific responses.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with attention to detail. The ability to evaluate study design, data quality, clinical relevance, limitations, and the strength of supporting evidence.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to medical communications, unsolicited requests, scientific exchange, promotional review, and approved product information.
  • Excellent presentation, teaching, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Medical Affairs pillars and in cross-functional teams, manage conflict, competing priorities, and contribute effectively in a changing environment.
  • Advanced functional expertise, strategic judgment, and organizational acumen, with demonstrated ability to independently lead complex cross-functional initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, and deliver results without formal authority.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical, scientific, or healthcare discipline required; advanced clinical or scientific degree and/or relevant professional licensure or certification preferred.
  • Substantial progressively responsible relevant experience demonstrating advanced proficiency in Medical Information and broader Medical Affairs organization, including independent ownership and successful delivery of complex initiatives or special projects; level placement should reflect significant depth and years of applicable experience.
  • Experience responding to medical or scientific inquiries, conducting literature evaluation, developing scientific content, or performing medical/scientific review is preferred.
  • Experience in infusion therapy, pharmacy, nursing, nutrition, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other relevant therapeutic/technology areas is preferred, depending on assigned portfolio.
  • Experience working within regulated healthcare or life sciences environments and with cross-functional review processes is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% to support business meetings, scientific activities, team collaboration, and other Medical Affairs priorities.
