Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Material Lifecycle Program Management (MLPM) is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the company's Material Lifecycle Program Management function. This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for lifecycle-driven initiatives, including End-of-Life (EOL), obsolescence management, lifecycle transitions, environmental material discontinuance, and associated qualification and implementation activities.

The position serves as the focal point for cross-functional lifecycle governance and is accountable for driving organizational alignment, process effectiveness, program execution, and risk mitigation across Engineering, Component Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Material Compliance, Operations, and Business Units.

As a people leader, the Senior Manager is responsible for building and developing the MLPM organization, establishing performance objectives, managing resources, and ensuring effective execution of lifecycle management strategies to support business continuity and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

Lifecycle Management & Governance

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide lifecycle management policies, procedures, governance models, and best practices.
  • Establish standardized processes for EOL, obsolescence, lifecycle transitions, and environmental material discontinuance management.
  • Lead regular lifecycle governance reviews and executive management updates.
  • Establish escalation mechanisms and decision-making frameworks for critical lifecycle risks.
  • Monitor organizational compliance with lifecycle management processes and performance metrics.

End-of-Life (EOL) & Obsolescence Management

  • Lead enterprise-wide EOL and obsolescence management programs.
  • Establish risk prioritization methodologies and mitigation strategies.
  • Drive proactive identification, assessment, and resolution of lifecycle risks.
  • Oversee Last-Time-Buy (LTB) planning and lifecycle transition activities.
  • Ensure lifecycle risks are effectively managed through closure.

Qualification & Product Transition Management

  • Provide management oversight for alternate component qualification programs.
  • Ensure effective coordination of validation, customer approval, ECO implementation, and product transition activities.
  • Escalate and resolve execution barriers impacting qualification or implementation schedules.
  • Oversee lifecycle-related redesign and transition programs to minimize business disruption.

Environmental Material Discontinuance Management

  • Manage lifecycle activities associated with environmental and regulatory-driven material discontinuance.
  • Support compliance-related transition programs arising from regulations such as RoHS, REACH, PFAS, TSCA, and similar requirements.
  • Coordinate qualification, implementation, and product transition plans resulting from material compliance changes.

Business Partership & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Engineering, Component Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Quality, Material Compliance, Finance, and Business Units to align lifecycle strategies with business objectives.
  • Drive executive-level discussions and facilitate resolution of complex cross-functional issues.
  • Serve as the primary management representative for lifecycle risk management activities.
  • Influence organizational priorities and decision-making regarding lifecycle-related risks and mitigation plans.

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for lifecycle management effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve process efficiency, response time, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Benchmark industry best practices and identify opportunities to strengthen lifecycle governance.
  • Utilize metrics and business intelligence to drive data-based decision making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Program Management
  • Product Lifecycle Management
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Component Engineering
  • Product Engineering
  • Manufacturing Operations
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading cross-functional projects or programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • End-of-Life (EOL) management
  • Obsolescence management
  • Qualification management
  • Engineering change processes
  • Supplier lifecycle notifications and risk assessment
  • Experience in power electronics, medical, industrial, networking, telecom, or high-reliability products.
  • Experience working in a global manufacturing environment.
  • PMP or equivalent project/program management certification.
  • Experience implementing lifecycle governance or supply continuity programs.

  • Strong understanding of component lifecycle management and obsolescence management.
  • Knowledge of EOL, PDN, NRND, PCN, and product lifecycle processes.
  • Understanding of qualification, verification, and validation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ECO/ECN processes and change management practices.
  • Understanding of material compliance regulations including RoHS, REACH, PFAS, TSCA, and related requirements.
  • Ability to assess business and operational impacts associated with lifecycle changes.

Systems & Tools

  • Experience with ERP, PLM, and engineering change management systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
  • Experience with dashboard development and KPI management preferred.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, functional leaders, and executives.
  • Experience preparing executive presentations, business reviews, and strategic proposals.
