The Senior Engineering/Maintenance Manager is responsible for the oversight of a team consisting of Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers, as well as Maintenance Technicians, Facilities Personnel and the CI team, in the completion of engineering and maintenance functions and projects. Their duties include hiring and training qualified staff, setting project budgets and timelines for completion, and overseeing maintenance and adjustment of machinery and processes in the facility.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years’ previous experience as an Engineering Manager
  • Master’s degree in engineering or business discipline
  • Six-sigma Black Belt Certification, Lean Certification
  • Knowledge of Fiber Optic Industry desirable
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Acute ability to understand and use data for continuous improvement
  • Large project management experience

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be safe – comply with all safety regulations.
  • Partner with Process Engineering and Maintenance teams to install, test and release equipment to production after machine modifications to improve machines’ safety, quality, and performance.
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis of machine failure to aid in resolutions to eliminate equipment failures increasing machine reliability and future proofing aged equipment.
  • Developing detailed plans for machine modifications and installations.
  • Making determinations for equipment, staff, and training for 3–5-year plans.
  • Proposing Capital Expense project budgets based upon plant needs for the facility and equipment within the facility.
  • Leading project development to update aged equipment and communicating with company stakeholders from executives down to the floor.
  • Define KPIs, track performance, and take actions to meet the goals.
  • Checking the team’s work for technical accuracy and sustainability.
  • Coordinating with other department managers and staff to improve the plant workflow, resolving recurrent issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of machine controls methodology.
  • Understanding of machine layout and design tools.
  • Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully solving complex problems.
  • Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel. You will need to be able to effectively communicate instructions while leading the team to their goals.
  • Detail oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details, as a minor error can result in major problems.
  • Math skills, including calculus and other advanced mathematics for developing new processes and equipment operational improvements.
  • Organizational skills for keeping track of budgets, employees and schedules simultaneously.
