Job Description

The Sr. Manager, Pricing & Estimating is responsible for the overall department performance and growth of personnel. In this role, you will oversee staff in developing fully supported pricing proposals that will be submitted in response to government and other customer requests, manages the workload of direct reports, and coordinates pricing efforts with management and other departments.

Your duties will include leading the Pricing & Estimating team through proposal development, pricing analysis, pricing strategy, compliance with company policies and government requirements, fact-finding, audits, negotiations, problem solving, and training of personnel. This role requires working closely with cross-functional teams such as business development, program management, contracts, finance, procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to fully understand the customer RFP and to develop a compliant pricing proposal for submittal.

You should be capable of managing the department workload and deliverables against strict timelines and meeting expectations in a detail-oriented, performance-driven, business environment. In addition, you will be responsible for the development of the financial analysis for management reviews on all proposals, including margin analysis, risks and opportunities, and cash flow schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to effectively develop teams and manage/direct the workflow of others is required. Develop, train, and mentor direct reports using a formalized performance management process and positive leadership examples.
  • Participates in determining objectives of work assignments, planning schedules, and arranging activities in accomplishing objectives of the department.
  • Strong business background with knowledge of all aspects of government and commercial job costing in an engineering development and manufacturing environment.
  • Analysis of proposal bills of materials, utilization of actual and estimated labor and procurement data, pricing and estimating practices, functional department estimates, and proposal auditing.
  • Performs review and analysis of cost proposals activities prior to submission to management for approval and negotiation with customers to ensure cost data are current, accurate, and complete.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex proposal related problems using established policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Works special assignments as required using independent judgment and initiative.
  • Plan, execute & manage multiple projects that include improvement reviews of business processes, particularly on regulatory & compliance-related systems & programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of General Accounting processes, procedures, and rules and accounting systems to properly apply the correct overheads, burdens, pricing factors, and other applicable rates & the application of pricing and costing principles, concepts, practices, and standards
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Math, Accounting, or related field with 10+ years of related experience.
  • Aerospace & Defense industry experience, problem solving ability, excellent analytical skills, and ability to analyze and understand complex systems and processes are preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of FAR, DFARS and CAS with emphasis in preparing pricing proposals that are current, accurate, and complete.
  • Must have in depth working knowledge of DCAA/DCMA
  • Familiarity with Other Transaction Authority (OTA) proposals
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, & organizational skills are required.
  • A self-starter, quick learner, and independent work style which requires minimal supervision is also desirable for this position.
  • Previous Manager experience highly preferred
  • Leadership experience and a successful track record of developing a team highly preferred
  • Ability to maintain focus and professionalism throughout the proposal development cycle
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of ProPricer is preferred.
