The Sr Manager, Facilitation and Border Security is part of the Corporate Security team within the Corporate Affairs division. This leader will serve as the central point of consultation for all matters related to international facilitation, regulatory compliance, and cross-border operational strategy. Their input will directly inform executive decision-making, policy development, and crisis response planning. The Senior Manager will represent American Airlines in regulatory discussions, audits, and bilateral negotiations, ensuring the airline’s interests are protected and its operations remain compliant and competitive.

• Partner with the Director of Global Security Compliance and Facilitation to strengthen strategic relationships with U.S. and international border control agencies, driving alignment on regulatory priorities.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to design, implement, and assess facilitation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
• Navigate complex stakeholder environments to build consensus and evaluate the operational impact of evolving border control mandates.
• Develop and recommend strategic solutions that ensure compliance with global government agency directives while minimizing disruption to operations.
• Optimize international documentation workflows by designing and refining procedures that support seamless passenger processing and regulatory adherence.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to internal business units, providing subject matter expertise on facilitation, compliance, and documentation standards.
• Coordinate essential administrative and operational services that support the execution of facilitation programs and strategic initiatives.
• Represent American Airlines in high-level engagements with border control policymakers and leadership, advocating for industry-aligned facilitation practices.
• Actively engage with ICAO, IATA, A4A, and other industry bodies to influence and support global Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) related to facilitation.
• Lead performance compliance monitoring through data-driven error analysis, root cause identification, and mitigation strategies to uphold service delivery standards.
• Utilize the Security Management System (SeMS) to track immigration and customs-related fines and penalties and manage mitigation and appeals processes to protect operational integrity.
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree
• 7 years of experience implementing and executing policies, programs, and procedures at an air carrier or 3 years in airport operations.
• Knowledge of airline operations - either above or below the wing or extensive knowledge of the interworking of U.S. federal agencies.
• Diplomacy in dealing with regulators/strategy development/communication with senior level leadership.
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
• 3 years of experience interacting with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and foreign border control agencies at an international airport or at an enterprise level
• Rudimentary knowledge of Data Management
• Knowledge of border control regulations and processes, entry requirements and travel documents, risk assessment, IATA API and PNRGOV standards, and ICAO Annex 9
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
• Licensed Customs Broker is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Strategic and critical thinking mindset who is agile to adapt to changing landscape and regulations
• Strong organization skills - able to track complex problems with attention to detail.
• Fluency in other languages is a plus.
