Overall Purpose

The Senior Manager, Business Systems is responsible for leading the administration and strategic direction of the Microsoft 365 (M365) and Workday administration teams, with primary emphasis on Microsoft technologies. This role partners closely with Microsoft, Infrastructure, Security, IAM, and End User Computing teams to ensure the organization's collaboration and productivity platforms are secure, reliable, and aligned with business objectives. Prior experience managing Workday is not required; however, candidates should have demonstrated success leading enterprise technology teams and driving technical strategy.

Essential Functions

  • Own the Microsoft 365 platform roadmap by partnering with Microsoft to evaluate, plan, communicate, and govern changes across the M365 ecosystem.
  • Lead the assessment and deployment of new M365 features and functionality across desktop, web, and mobile applications while managing release cadence and organizational readiness.
  • Evaluate and manage platform changes including feature releases, deprecations, UI updates, product rebranding, and service lifecycle impacts.
  • Establish strong release management practices, including risk assessment, change control, feature blocking when appropriate, and comprehensive pre-production testing prior to deployment.
  • Drive the maturity of lower environments to ensure robust testing, validation, and deployment processes.
  • Oversee Microsoft licensing strategy and lifecycle management, including optimization, compliance, vendor support, and cost management.
  • Define and maintain clear ownership and RACI models for Azure administration in partnership with Identity & Access Management (IAM), Desktop/Endpoint Engineering, and other infrastructure teams.
  • Lead and develop high-performing administration teams supporting Microsoft 365 and Workday while fostering operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to align platform capabilities with enterprise priorities and improve user experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/ or experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum eight (8) years or more of progressive direct and/or related experience managing development or service delivery teams. Experience with Business Systems preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing enterprise Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365 administration and strategy.
  • Deep technical knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID/Azure AD, Intune, and related services).
  • Experience working directly with Microsoft on product roadmaps, release planning, and support escalation.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise change management, release governance, testing methodologies, and platform lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Microsoft licensing models and license administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to define cross-functional operating models and governance, including RACI development across technical teams.
  • Experience leading technical teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Background and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing enterprise business applications such as Workday is a plus but is not required.
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate
  • Project Management Experience
  • Agile development experience

Physical Requirements

Early Warning works together in a highly collaborative office environment. Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $129,000 - $161,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
