Job Title: Senior Maintenance Technician
Pay: Starting at $39/ hour, with a possible 4% End of Year Performance Bonus.

Position reports directly to the Grand Rapids Maintenance & Engineering Improvement Supervisor. The Maintenance & Engineering Improvement Supervisor is this position back up.
Job dimensions
This multifunctional role provides some degree of hands-on craft skill support in electrical and/or mechanical areas, while serving as site SME for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Repair Work Order (RWO) systems. Maintenance scope includes planning and executing a broad spectrum of work, including troubleshooting and repair of equipment. The role also coordinates maintenance planning, and handles contractor oversight, while supporting department requisitioning activity along with being a primary issuer of safe work permits (SWP’s).
Key Activities and responsibilities

Maintenance Planning-25%
- Coordinates and/or performs regular preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities; updates maintenance records and equipment history.
- Works directly with Operations/Logistics Leaders to investigate and develop plans for repairs or other needs.
- Delegates daily PM/repair tasks to team members with supervisory input as needed.
- Plans and coordinates contractor PM and repair activity with supervisory guidance.
- Monitors, issues, completes, and updates PM documentation per schedules; adds and changes PM’s and equipment in SAP, as needed.
- Monitors, issues, completes, and updates WO documentation, per department and company prioritization.
Contractor/Service Coordination-25%
- Utilizes outside contractors and vendors, as directed, to accomplish certain work objectives including projects.
- Participates in and supports Safe Work Permit process including permit issuance where authorized.
- Coordinates with supervision for requisitions needed for maintenance materials and services.
- Provides input to supervision for developing/executing material and services spending budget.
Project Coordination-20%
- Works with own and other departments to develop proposed scopes for small/medium site projects.
- Coordinates execution of material acquisition and contractor implementation of assigned projects.
- Provides support to Engineering in specification, sourcing, and commissioning of equipment systems.
Electrical/Mechanical Support-25%
- Performs diversified mechanical, electrical and/or instrumentation duties, including preventive maintenance.
- Performs electro/mechanical tasks including troubleshooting and repair of production machines and related apparatus. Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and develops/issues/executes work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Reads and interprets P&ID’s, one-line drawings, electrical schematics and related information. Local, State, and National Electrical Code (NEC) knowledge required, if Electrical Qualified.
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools, test and diagnostic meters as well as other instruments. Must have experience in operating forklifts and/or aerial equipment.
- Updates and modifies mechanical, instrumentation/electrical and other procedures as necessary.
- Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment including during off hours. Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during planned outages.
- Participates in on call rotation.
Other Duties-5%
- Ensures workplace safety by conducting safety observations and reviews while adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
- Supports all AIMS initiatives relevant to role, as assigned.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
- Provides technical support for specification, identification, and sourcing of needed parts.
- Provides experience/input on failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
- Participates in cross functional or departmental root cause analysis using 5Why or 5W2H-5 Why.
- Handles and manages hazardous waste according to RCRA and DOT requirements and completes all applicable Hazardous Waste compliance training
- Completes all assigned Atlas items
- All other duties as assigned.
Context and environment
This position will be based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Maintenance work will occasionally require coordination of confined space entry activity, working at elevated heights, using respirators, working outdoors, etc.
Occasional evening and weekend response required for off-hours maintenance issues. Travel is <5%.
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc(e.g., Cares Observations, Inspection Tool, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience
- Requires a HS diploma/GED
- Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or equivalent number of years of education and mechanical, electrical and/or instrumentation experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- If electrical background, documentation of training/experience must rate incumbent as an Electrical Qualified person (Certified Electrician or Master Electrician).
- 7+ years of manufacturing experience with strong mechanical, electrical/electronic and/or industrial skills.
- Experience with rotating equipment, instrumentation/controls, and working in a hazardous environment preferred.
- Experience with digital and analog computer machine interfacing, and/or with VFD/device programming is a plus
- Basic or higher computer skills to support PM and maintenance work request systems and requisitioning activity; must have willingness and ability to become more advanced in SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently, with heavier weight necessary at times.
- Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding or powered lifts when required.
- Must be a highly motivated team player and able to work independently and at a fast pace, when necessary.
- Must have willingness to collaborate with other departments, working as a team to achieve common goals.
Demonstrated Competencies
Responsible for upkeep of site PM and WO programs, support of department requisitioning, small project execution, and oversight of contractor activity including work permitting.
Also responsible for performing highly diversified mechanical, electrical and/or instrumentation duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and preventive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives
