Job Description

The Mechanical and Operations Technician is a technical resource responsible for operating, maintaining, and supporting new sterilization technologies, equipment within the facility. Responsibilities include executing sterilization cycles, performing electromechanical troubleshooting, monitoring process parameters, and completing batch documentation. The role also supports equipment improvements and technical investigations, while contributing to the reliable day-to-day operation of the processing facility.

Reporting Structure:

Technician reports directly to the R&D Director.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve equipment.
  • Planning and designing future equipment.
  • Participate in investigations in case of deviations or technical issues.
  • Receive, inspect, and store medical and pharmaceutical products under controlled conditions (e.g. refrigeration).
  • Operate the sterilization process: cycle initiation, parameter monitoring, equipment loading/unloading, placement of biological indicators.
  • Ensure traceability and regulatory compliance throughout all steps of the process.
  • Participating in writing, reviewing, and updating operational documents (procedures, instructions, checklists).
  • Prepare, complete, and finalize Batch Records (BR), considering product specifics and documentation requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal expert on new technology and stay up to date with technical documentation.
  • Verify and interpret data.
  • Keep the equipment operating safely.
  • Respond effectively to alarms and document anomalies according to current procedures.
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance of all documentation related to the sterilization process.
  • Actively contributes to continuous improvement of mechanical, documentation and operational practices.

Required Skills:

Technical Skills

  • Electromechanical competence.
  • Basic data management skills (Excel and PPT) (nice to have).
  • Ability to write and update technical and operational documents.

Cross-functional Skills

  • Ability to work in a small R&D team.
  • Proactive mindset.
  • Reactivity and composure in case of problems or alarms.
  • Critical thinking skills for reviewing technical documents.
  • Team spirit and clear communication.

Profile

  • Education: 2–3 years post-secondary education (Bachelor level or equivalent) in technical fields, industrial processes, biotechnology, or equivalent.
  • Language: English is a must. French is nice to have.

Working Conditions

  • Shift work or daytime hours depending on organizational needs.
  • Willing to travel in Belgium.
  • Work in a regulated environment with mandatory use of PPE.
  • Initial training provided on current systems and equipment.
