The Sr. Maintenance Specialist – Project Controls in Major Maintenance (MM) directs the systems, processes and, metrics used to keep MM Projects/Programs/Tanks and Pit Stops on time and within budget. This role will champion the planning, scheduling, and milestone process to ensure all MM activities are being executed as expected. This role will provide data-driven forecasting and performance monitoring to prevent cost overrun and schedule bottlenecks. This role will lead contractor cost analysts and schedulers that support MM activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain the MM Project Control/Milestone work process.
  • Coordinate with MM Supervisors, Maintenance Team Leaders, Cost Analysts, and Schedulers to ensure project milestones are met through the work lifecycle.
  • Responsible for cost tracking/forecasting MM work within Motiva’s financial data system (SAP S4Hana).
  • Engage with Motiva Finance on requirements for the financial work process (Latest Estimate, Value of Work Done, etc).
  • Responsible for creating and defining MM project structure within the SAP S4Hana system (budget allocation, WO creation, PO requisitioning).
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, costs, and verify workforce allocation including planned, estimated, committed, accrued, and discovery work, providing timely updates to management.
  • Ensure that MM scheduling is uniform throughout the department for Projects/Programs/Tanks and Pit Stops.
  • Ensure schedules are generated for planned/unplanned Projects/Programs/Tanks and Pit Stops in accordance with the pre-determined milestones.
  • Influence the day-to-day operations of contract personnel on the Project Control Team and provide guidance on work processes.
  • Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence by ensuring regulatory compliance, investigating incidents and near misses, and implementing corrective actions.

Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling processes, work management systems, and maintenance work practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities across cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with SAP (S4Hana), Primavera P6, PowerBi Tools, Microsoft Office applications, including Excel (Pivot Tools/Macro Enabled Programs), Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Finance, or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection)
