We are seeking a skilled Sr. Maintenance Automation Engineer to support and maintain automation systems in our stamping operations. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and improving overall system performance by troubleshooting and maintaining advanced control systems, robotics, and automation components used in stamping presses and related equipment.
The Stamping Maintenance Automation Engineer will work very closely with Manufacturing Operation teams, Manufacturing and Process Engineering and other cross-functional teams to ensure the Stamping process is properly designed and implemented. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

You will

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automation systems in stamping presses, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, robotics, and safety systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring automation failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for automation and electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to optimize automation systems and reduce downtime.
  • Update and maintain technical documentation such as electrical schematics, PLC programs, and machine settings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all automation-related tasks.
  • Lead or assist in automation improvement and upgrade projects, including hardware and software enhancements.
  • Provide technical guidance, develop and implement trainings to maintenance technicians and operators.
  • Lead and coordinate automation problems by implementing permanent solutions.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve risk management practices and process reliability throughout the Stamping Process.
  • Address challenges during the production/launch phase, ensuring timely resolution with minimal impact on production timelines.
  • Participate in root cause analysis teams and problem-solving activities, focusing on productivity, process improvements, and maintenance measures.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce and avoid all different types of waste and drive to a more efficient process

You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automation and maintenance within a stamping or metal-forming environment.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens, ), robotics (e.g., KUKA), and HMI TIA PORTAL systems.
  • Strong understanding of press automation, die protection systems, servo feeds, and transfer systems.
  • Familiarity with servo motors, encoders, and industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with metal stamping presses, transfer systems, and coil feed lines.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, ISO 13849).
  • Experience with CMMS systems for tracking maintenance activities.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and IoT systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven engineering experience in stamping equipment (e.g., Servo, Laser cutting, Beckhoff)
  • Passion for results, strategy, and hands on execution. Creative, calculated risk taker with the ability to manage difficult problems.
  • Strong understanding of stamping process and operations, with excellent Automation knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and departments.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems, maintenance tools, and financial tracking software.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Proficient in Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
  • Fluent in English
