SUMMARY
The
Senior Linux Engineer
is a highly technical role responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based systems within a complex and performance-driven environment. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in Linux administration, virtualization, and networking, along with the ability to troubleshoot issues at the OS and infrastructure level.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in working within structured, ticket-driven environments. Strong communication skills are essential, particularly for clear documentation and collaboration within globally distributed teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administer, maintain, and optimize Linux systems across distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu
• Perform advanced troubleshooting at the OS level, including system performance, resource utilization, and network-related issues
• Develop and maintain Bash scripts for automation, system management, and operational efficiency
• Support and manage virtualization platforms such as Proxmox and KVM, including provisioning and maintenance of virtual environments
• Configure and manage virtual firewall solutions, including Juniper vSRX in multi-tenant environments
• Implement and manage centralized firewall policies and segmentation strategies
• Perform basic to intermediate network troubleshooting, including TCP/IP and routing diagnostics
• Work within a structured, ticket-driven environment, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to incident management processes
• Collaborate with internal teams and NOC environments to ensure system stability and performance
• Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux systems administration
• Strong experience with RHEL/CentOS and Ubuntu environments
• Intermediate proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and system tasks
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, networking fundamentals, and OS-level troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as Proxmox or KVM
• Experience configuring and managing Juniper vSRX or similar virtual firewall technologies
• Familiarity with multi-tenant environments and centralized policy management
• Experience working in monitored, ticket-based environments with structured incident handling (ITIL awareness preferred)
• Strong written communication skills, particularly for technical documentation
CERTIFICATIONS
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent (preferred)
• Networking or security certifications (e.g., CCNA, Juniper certifications) (nice to have)
