The Role

Reporting to the Network Manager, theNetworkEngineer is seen as a technical expert inNetworkingEngineering

This is atechnical and hands on role, with a primary focus on Design andImplementation ofNetwork Change;alsoyou will be expected to support the network operations team with complex troubleshooting of issues asrequired

You will have experience of working in high impact, mission critical environments where service matters and exceeding expectations is the norm

Key responsibilities

The Network Transmission Engineeris responsible fordesigning, implementing,monitoring, andmaintaininghigh-performance transmission systems across enterprise networks. This includesfiberoptics, routers, switches, and associated infrastructure critical to data and voice transmission. The role demands hands-onexpertisein troubleshooting, configuration, and optimization of transmission paths to ensure seamless connectivity and minimaldowntime

  • Responsible for defining and documenting NetworkEngineeringStandards

  • Responsible for the creation ofLow LevelDesign documents to meet requirements outlined in theHigh LevelDesign

  • Responsible for the creation of detailed Implementation Plans for all engineering related activity

  • Responsible for Procurement activities relating to build and delivery of new services (Project)   

  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth Transition/Handover to Operations in line with agreed Operational Acceptance Process

  • Responsible for managing Technical Lifecycle Management for all Network & Communications services

  • Responsible for supporting Architecture in creation and upkeep of a Delivery Roadmap for Network engineer

  • Responsible for supporting the Architecture in scoping activities required to produce theHigh LevelDesign

  • Responsible for supporting Architecture in undertaking Proof of Concept activities

  • Responsible for ensuring skillsets are relevant and up to datein order todeliver change and providea high levelof support

  • Responsible for providing escalation support to Operations with complex troubleshooting of Major Incidents asrequired

  • Provide on call escalation support (rota basis) and work extended hours as and whenrequired

Core Skills & Experience

  • Total 12+ years exp required.

  • A minimum8yearshands on experience ofTransmissionnetwork solutions within a global enterprise scale organization

  • You will have considerable first-hand experience of design engineering and building resilient and scalableTransmissionnetworksolutions

  • You understandnetworkprinciples, regional compliance standards, relevant local regulations, and applicable laws

  • Knowledge of network topology like ring structure, daisy chain structure and their traffichandling capabilities and characteristics

  • Well-versed on the functionality of telecommunication network transmission nodes

  • Adept in functionality of transmission media test equipment (optical light meter, powermeter, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR))

  • Familiar with bands in opticalfibreand their usability as well as loss characteristics

  • Knowledge of signal strength and quality KPIs design values and margins

  • You understand the concepts of risk and compliance and how to translate these into effectivenetworksolutions.

  • You have a strong understanding of Layer 2, Layer 3 & Layer 4-7 network andnetworktechnologies.

  • You will be familiar with a variety of testing tools, networkingtechnologiesand techniques to accurately troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems associated with the service, application and network hardware and software.

Technical Skills & Experience

You will have expert knowledge and experience in several of the following areas:

  • Transmission Network – DWDM, SDH, Leased Line, PSTN Circuits

  • Network Routing & Switching

  • Network Security

It is desirable andadvantageousto also have knowledge and experience of the following technology platforms:

  • Public CloudPeering – Azure, AWS, Google

Technical Certification

You will have the following certification or demonstrable working experience:

  • Certifications: Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent.

  • Experience in handling transmission jobs in ACH or similar financial systems

  • ITILv3 foundation or higher
