General Summary:

Qualcomm is seeking an Embedded Software Integration Engineer to own the end‑to‑end integration, stabilization, and release of embedded software developed by multiple CV teams. This role is critical to delivering high‑quality, production‑ready software releases across diverse product segments including Mobile, XR, IoT, and Compute.

The position operates at the intersection of software development, validation, and release engineering, ensuring that integrated software meets quality, performance, and timeline expectations for both internal stakeholders and external customers.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands‑on experience with embedded Linux and RTOS environments, build and release systems, source control, and cross‑functional coordination. A successful engineer in this role is passionate about transforming feature‑level development into stable, scalable, and customer‑ready releases.

As part of the integration and release team, you will be responsible for seamless software delivery through various distribution mechanisms, tools, and methodologies, while continuously improving integration efficiency and release quality.

Exposure to Linux kernel driver development, debugging, and support is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Software Integration & Release

  • Integrate embedded software components developed by multiple teams into unified system releases
  • Own branch management, code drops, tagging, and release creation across internal repositories
  • Perform continuous integration of platform, driver, middleware, and application layers
  • Ensure timely and high‑quality software releases aligned with project milestones

Build, Validation & Debugging

  • Manage and troubleshoot build failures, runtime integration issues, and dependency conflicts
  • Perform smoke testing, sanity validation, and triage of issues before releases
  • Debug integration‑level issues across kernel, drivers, middleware, and user space
  • Work closely with validation and QA teams to resolve release‑blocking issues

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a single point of contact between development, validation, and downstream consumers
  • Coordinate with feature owners to track readiness, dependencies, and risks
  • Support customer and field issues by reproducing, analyzing, and coordinating fixes
  • Participate in code reviews and provide Progressive feedback to improve software quality.

Process & Documentation

  • Improve integration and release workflows through automation and tooling
  • Maintain release notes, integration documentation, and known‑issues lists
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of integration and delivery processes

Skillset / Experience:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a primarily US-based team.
  • Must be able to work under pressure situations and be a problem solver and a team player.
  • Should be able to stretch out/extend his working hours in case of critical issues/ release timelines
  • Should be very comfortable is using AI tools and deploying AI Assistants/Agents to improve CI/CD pipelines efficiencies and reduce CI/CD overall latencies
  • Should have good knowledge and Handle Android Longevity , Android / Yocto Upgrades , Kernel upgrades seemlessly
    • Strong ability to work well in various ARM environments, including: Linux Android, Linux Embedded, Linux Ubuntu. -Good knowledge of Linux programming (Linux device drivers, file system, POSIX calls, multi-threading etc).
  • Upstream Contribution will be considered as a bonus
  • Able to do very quick Initial triage , find root cause and draw conclusions/AIs on the next steps for the release blocker issues
  • Solid understanding of embedded Linux or RTOS environments
  • Hands‑on experience with Git, branching strategies, and code reviews
  • Should have Hands on Experience with Android/Linux makerules , Debian/ Bitbake rules etc.,
    • Experience working with build systems (Yocto/BitBake,Android, Make, CMake, or similar)
  • Experience in Github workflows
  • Strong debugging skills across system‑level software components
  • Able to use Generative AI tools and always tend to optimize & improve Automations and CI infrastructure efficiently to save overall integration bandwidth and workloads
  • Good knowledge of scripting languages (python, perl) , C/C++ is a bonus
  • Good understanding of ARM and DSP architectures and fundamentals.
  • Well versed with the Linux based development environments.
  • Experience in the development of complex embedded software
  • No fear of refactoring ugly code
  • Love of unit testing and automation
  • Past experience of working in Qualcomm and/or Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs will be a big plus.
  • Candidate must have very good understanding of the software lifecycle process.
  • Excellent debugging skillset to debug complex system level issues including but not limited to use of HW debuggers like Lauterbach Trace32 is desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
