Location: Remote. Candidates must reside within a 200-mile driving radius of the Joliet, Illinois facility and be available to travel to the plant on short notice as business needs require.

Travel: Up to 25% travel. May include local and domestic travel for stakeholder meetings, community events, media activities, company meetings, business locations, conferences, public affairs initiatives, and other business-related engagements. Overnight travel may be required based on business needs.

Pay Range: $124,000 - $155,000 annually

Job Summary

The Sr. Lead Corporate Affairs Partner plays a key role in supporting Hyundai Translead's expansion and long-term presence in Illinois. The position serves as a bridge between the company and external stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, economic development partners, media representatives, and industry groups. Through stakeholder engagement, public affairs activities, community relations, and strategic communications, the role helps build trust, strengthen the company's reputation, and support successful business operations and growth.

Essential Functions

  • Lead stakeholder engagement strategies and maintain relationships with government officials, community organizations, educational institutions, industry groups, business associations, media representatives, and other external partners.
  • Develop and execute public affairs, community relations, and corporate communications strategies that support organizational objectives and enhance Hyundai Translead's reputation.
  • Lead development of executive communications, public statements, press releases, briefing materials, stakeholder messaging, and other high-visibility communications.
  • Serve as the senior communications lead for major organizational announcements, community initiatives, executive engagements, media matters, and public affairs priorities.
  • Advise leadership on communications strategy, stakeholder engagement, media relations, reputation management, and emerging public affairs issues.
  • Lead media relations activities, including executive interviews, speaking engagements, media inquiries, and external communications.
  • Monitor and assess public, industry, legislative, and media developments that may affect organizational operations, reputation, or stakeholder relationships.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships that advance community engagement, public affairs, and business objectives.
  • Lead crisis communications planning and response efforts, including message strategy, stakeholder alignment, media engagement, and post-event evaluation.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives involving significant organizational visibility, ambiguity, and stakeholder impact.
  • Establish communication standards, processes, and governance practices to ensure consistent and effective organizational messaging.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, coaching, and guidance on corporate affairs, communications, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, company policies, communication protocols, brand standards, and approval requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions (Continued)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate affairs, public affairs, corporate communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, community relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, public affairs, media relations, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, and crisis management.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide or high-visibility communications, public affairs, or stakeholder engagement initiatives involving executive leadership, cross-functional teams, external stakeholders, or public audiences.
  • Experience advising executive or senior leadership on communications strategy, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and complex business issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, resolve ambiguous or sensitive communications challenges, and drive outcomes across multiple stakeholders and functions.
  • Experience establishing communication strategies, operational plans, governance standards, and process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Viva Engage, media monitoring tools, and press release distribution platforms.

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements

  • OEM or commercial transportation industry experience.
