Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Sr. Key Account Manager – Data Centers to join our team. This is a hybrid role based out of our Plano, Texas location.

SCOPE:

The Senior Key Account Manager will be responsible for leading market development, securing early wins, and expanding MHIA’s presence in the North American data center market for power generation, power distribution, precision cooling and modular infrastructure solutions. Serving as the primary commercial owner of assigned key account, this role leads account strategies, develops executive-level relationships, advances high-value sales opportunities, and positions Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as a trusted long-term partner. The Senior Key Account Manager works closely with customers to understand their business objectives, investment priorities, and operational challenges, aligning Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ solutions to create long-term value and accelerate sustainable growth. This position collaborates with global stakeholders across Japan and the U.S. to align priorities, enable effective execution, and support MHIA’s long-term business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have at least a minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in strategic sales, key account management, or business development within data center, industrial power and cooling solutions, or mission-critical infrastructure industries.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the strategic expansion of MHIA-DCEM’s data center infrastructural solutions, including power generation, power distribution, precision cooling and modular infrastructure solutions, in North America, securing early landmark projects.
  • Identify, develop, manage and grow key account relationships with senior decision-makers, influencers, and engineering stakeholders across target industries, serving as the primary point of contact for major clients.
  • Compete effectively in a market through differentiated value propositions and technically robust solutions.
  • Conduct detailed customer needs analysis and competitive assessments to develop tailored proposals and impactful presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and Japan HQ to co-develop customized solutions for client requirements and provide market insights for future product roadmap planning.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, RFP responses, technical evaluations, and contract negotiations to secure long-term agreements.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication, issue resolution, and long-term partnership cultivation.
  • Represent MHIA-DCEM at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings to strengthen brand visibility and market presence. Promote sustainability, support talent development, and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and CRM data.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed sales targets, revenue goals, and profitability objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in strategic sales, key account management, or business development within data center, industrial power and cooling solutions, or mission-critical infrastructure industries.
  • Proven track record of securing large-scale projects and building long-term partnerships with major industrial and mission-critical clients.
  • Demonstrated success in developing relationships with executive stakeholders
  • Experience in originating and closing complex commercial deals
  • Outstanding negotiation and consultative selling skills, capable of differentiating value beyond price competition.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills for delivering market insights, competitive analysis, and compelling presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, including Japan-based engineers and product leaders.
  • Highly self-driven, results-oriented, resilient, and adaptable to competitive and fast-changing environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Strong commitment to compliance, ethics, and regulatory standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

o Experience with data center infrastructure, including power generation, power distribution or precision cooling solutions.

o Experience with modular infrastructure or integrated system solutions.

o Experience contributing to product customization and new product development initiatives.

o Strong understanding of data center customers such as hyperscalers, colocation providers, developers, and EPC contractors.

o Experience working in a matrix organization with global teams.

o Leadership experience mentoring junior staff and promoting cross‑organizational understanding.

o Proficiency in CRM tools and sales analytics platforms.

o Master’s degree in business administration or engineering.

o Familiarity with Japanese business culture is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel: Up to 60% domestic and international for client meetings, industry events, and site visits.
  • Standard Monday–Friday work week; occasional weekend or late-night work as needed.
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk and/or hear.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
