Serves as a senior Epic application subject matter expert responsible for the design, build, testing, implementation, integration, and ongoing support of Epic applications and related operational processes. Works closely with operational leaders, IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to develop solutions that support clinical, financial, and operational workflows. Leads complex projects, integrations, and system enhancements while mentoring junior team members and supporting organizational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a senior resource and subject matter expert for Epic applications, workflows, integrations, and operational processes.
• Independently manage Epic design, configuration, testing, implementation, optimization, and support activities for complex initiatives and integrations involving Epic and non-Epic systems.
• Collaborate with operational and technical stakeholders to analyze workflows, identify root causes of issues, recommend solutions, and implement system improvements.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex tickets, enhancements, integrations, and cross-functional system issues.
• Perform advanced Epic builds, configurations, customizations, and modifications including security changes, order sets, templates, scheduling logic, provider setup, and integrated workflows.
• Coordinate and manage integrations with third-party vendors and internal applications ensuring successful interoperability and functionality.
• Participate in system upgrades, release management, integrated testing, maintenance, and enhancement prioritization.
• Communicate project updates, risks, milestones, and recommendations to leadership, operational teams, and end users.
• Support user training efforts, develop training materials, and provide guidance to super users and operational leaders.
• Mentor junior analysts and provide leadership on best practices, operational processes, and project execution.
• Participate in professional development activities including Epic training, certifications, conferences, and industry forums.
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree required OR
• Associate’s Degree with 2 additional years of related experience OR
• High School Diploma/GED with 4 additional years of related experience.
Required Certifications
Preferred Certifications
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
• Additional ancillary Epic certifications.
Required Experience
• Minimum 3 years of Epic Cadance and Referral application support and/or implementation experience performing builds and configurations within targeted Epic applications.
• Experience supporting operational workflows, troubleshooting complex issues, system analysis, integrations, and user support.
• Experience presenting technical information to stakeholders and training end users.
Preferred Experience
• 5+ years of Epic Cadance and Referral application support and build experience.
• Experience supporting hospital revenue cycle, patient scheduling, finance/billing, or related healthcare operational areas.
• Experience working as an Epic super-user or within healthcare operational environments.
