Job Description

Do you get energized by sensors, data, and electronics that make complex machines smarter? As a Sr. Instrumentation Electronics Engineer at Centrus Energy, you’ll build the nervous system of our advanced centrifuge technologies—crafting clever circuits, integrating sensors, and designing data-acquisition and control solutions that keep America’s clean-energy future spinning. You’ll develop new instrumentation electronics, write LabVIEW-based tools that turn signals into insight, and help bridge R&D to production with designs that are reliable, scalable, and wildly effective. If you enjoy turning engineering challenges into elegant hardware-and-software solutions, this is your kind of playground.

Responsibilities

As the lead for advanced instrumentation systems, you will be responsible for developing, deploying, and supporting cutting-edge electronics and data-acquisition capabilities in manufacturing and production environments. Your role ensures that complex electromechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy advanced instrumentation systems, including new electronics and data-acquisition solutions for production environments.
  • Design analog and digital circuits to support instrumentation and control needs.
  • Develop LabVIEW tools for system monitoring, control, and data analysis.
  • Create detailed specifications and design packages for electronics and instrumentation projects.
  • Manage electronics builds and testing, ensuring quality and compliance with requirements.
  • Troubleshoot system performance in centrifuge-plant environments to maintain operational reliability.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, working closely with mechanical, electrical, and external engineering teams.
  • Lead project tasks and mentor engineers, fostering technical growth and team success.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and procurement specifications to support timely and accurate sourcing.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of complex electromechanical systems while meeting project schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience, or equivalent industrial instrumentation experience
  • 1+ years in manufacturing, R&D, and electronics development
  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, circuit development, and data-acquisition design
  • Familiarity with simulation and modeling (e.g., Altium, PSPICE, LabVIEW, Simulink, OrCAD)
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a “Q” clearance.

A Successful Candidate Brings:

  • Bachelor’s or + 10 years of experience, or Master’s with focus in industrial electronics
  • 3+ years of nuclear-industry experience
  • Hands-on circuit design and implementation for production/manufacturing
  • Deep LabVIEW data-acquisition experience
  • Embedded software development and/or test experience
  • Currently possesses a “Q” or “L” clearance
