We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Senior HR Generalist within our Human Resources team to help support our Work Furniture business. In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in upholstered furniture, including recliner mechanisms, seating support systems, and sofa sleeper units. With a global footprint that includes international manufacturing, product development, distribution and sales, we are strategically positioned to support upholstered furniture manufacturers around the world.

Leggett & Platt is North America's leading independent manufacturer of office furniture components and mechanisms. Our Work Furniture business produces task and finished components, as well as select lines of private label finished seating. From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, Work Furniture brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality contract furniture products.

As a Senior HR Generalist, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by partnering with employees and leaders across the business to drive HR excellence, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by supporting talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, training and development, and HR programs that help the organization achieve its strategic objectives. So, what will you be doing as a Senior HR Generalist?

  • Ensure HR data and record-keeping compliance, including employee records, filing, reporting, and HRIS data maintenance, comprising approximately 40-50% of the role.
  • Support the full recruitment process, including posting jobs, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and assisting with hiring and onboarding activities.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and HR support to employees and leaders.
  • Partner with leadership teams to support business objectives through effective people practices and workforce planning.
  • Assist in implementing HR programs, initiatives, and employment activities that support organizational goals.
  • Utilize SAP SuccessFactors to manage employee data, reporting, and HR processes.
  • Support organizational effectiveness initiatives and help identify opportunities for improved efficiency and workforce alignment.
  • Promote and communicate occupational health and safety policies for both hourly and salaried employees.
  • Support employee relations matters, including addressing employee concerns, grievances, and labor-related issues in collaboration with leaders and HR colleagues.
  • Communicate HR policies, processes, and organizational changes effectively to employees.
  • Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, and people management best practices.
  • Identify employee training and development needs through performance management systems and competency evaluations.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment and labor legislation and help ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to prioritize work and support departmental objectives.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist or similar HR role.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and establish effective working relationships. Soft skills and clarity in communication a must!
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical and goal-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, HR processes, and employee relations practices.

Things we consider a plus:

  • Experience with HRIS systems, particularly SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with organizational development, training, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Advanced reporting and HR analytics capabilities.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, CHRP, or similar).
  • Spanish language skills.
