About this role

We are seeking an inventive, motivated, results oriented HW Test Engineer to work in our Hardware Development Team. The Sr. Hardware Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that our products are fully functional and compliant with the product requirem ents during all the product dev elopment phases. The Sr. HW Test Engineer defines, documents, analyzes, performs, and interprets tests for products, systems, components, or modifications and identifies functional problems and suggests resolutions. The role also includes assisting in the definition of internal HW quality assurance standards and the maintenance of reliability programs as well as analyzing & executing test cases and providing regular progress reports. The Sr. HW Test Engineer will act as an engineering liaison between HW Engineering and FW Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing and executing test plans and test cases in a project or complex HW QA activities within larger projects.
  • Lead testing task and time estimates during project schedule development and the program planning phase.
  • Lead test plans creation efforts and ensures test plans are completely defined, concise and provide traceability to product requirement documents. Review ATORs, attends Product Team Meetings and coordinate with HW Product Owner as required.
  • Develop test automation methods, including acceptance methodologies, and supporting application software.
  • Testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies.
  • Detailed documentation of test conditions and results in final reports for functional, compliance and engineering directed test, including coordinating approval of reports with HW Design Engineers. i.e. temperature & environmental, power quality, preliminary emissions, EFT and ESD tests
  • Generate FW Test SoW for HW Functional Test purposes, including testing drivers, working with onshore and offshore FW teams and providing feedback as needed.
  • Generate NPD checkout procedures.
  • Design and construction and wiring of test jigs, fixtures and boxes used to facilitate testing

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree
  • +5 years of experience in Hardware Quality Assurance, as well as Schematic, Board & Component level troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • B.S in Electrical or Electronics or equivalent highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in testing, case writing, microprocessors, microcontrollers, op-amps, regulators, standard digital logic ICs, and discrete semiconductors (diodes, transistors, FETS, triacs) highly desirable
  • Experience documenting test data in test reports , familiarity developing procedures and/or test specifications. Includes reviewing and approving external lab test reports.
  • Experience in project estimation and planning, including leading and coordinating efforts for Test Plan and Test Reports creation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication, analytical problem solving and prioritization skills.
  • High proficiency with multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, logic analyzers , EMC transient generators, programmable power supplies, and environmental chambers.
  • Testing of Building Automation System devices.
  • Experience with Carrier/ALC products and using WebCtrl is a plus
  • Experience developing and executing test cases within Test Stand is a plus
  • Lead free soldering of fine-pitched surface-mount components for board re-work and repair is preferred.
