Job Description

Job Location: Aurora Corporate - Aurora, NE 68818PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
This Senior Grain Merchandiser position is responsible for directing the trade strategy for primarily corn, soybeans, and milo across our system of 17 grain elevators.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and manage relationships with producers, suppliers, and buyers of specialty grains such as white corn, non-GMO corn, and other niche market grains.
- Negotiate purchase and sales contracts, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics to make informed trading decisions.
- Execute trades in local truck and rail markets to meet the cooperative’s volume and profit targets.
- Collaborate with the grain merchandising and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and efficient transportation of grains.
- Maintain accurate records of trades, contracts, and communications with all stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and safety standards related to grain trading.
- Participate in community and industry events to promote our cooperative and expand business opportunities.
- Assist in developing and implementing grain marketing and risk management strategies.
- Must have a thorough understanding of market values, truck and rail freight rates, car costs and competitor activities.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Contribute to the development and growth of the grain merchandising team.
- Develop new markets and explore different commodities to help add to the company growth.
- Promote communication including values, logistics, and market information across all levels of the company.
- Contribute and help drive other business units to meet goals and objectives and achieve companywide growth.
-  Aid in developing origination tools, marketing programs, and policies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities
- Must be a motivated self-starter
- Ability to read and interpret market reports and information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent math skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or related field.
