Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operational Management
    • Lead daily operations of the air freight gateway, ensuring timely and accurate handling of inbound and outbound shipments.
    • Monitor and optimize cargo consolidation, routing, and load planning.
    • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, security protocols, and company policies.
  • Team Leadership
    • Manage and develop gateway operations staff, including supervisors and warehouse personnel.
    • Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Carrier & Vendor Coordination
    • Liaise with airlines, ground handlers, and trucking partners to ensure service reliability and cost control.
    • Negotiate rates and service agreements with local vendors.
  • Performance & Reporting
    • Track KPIs such as on-time performance, cost per kilo, and space utilization.
    • Prepare regular reports for regional leadership and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve throughput, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
    • Support digitalization and automation initiatives.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and product teams to support client requirements and resolve escalations.
    • Participate in customer visits and presentations as needed.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Experience managing high-volume gateways or consolidation hubs.
  • Familiarity with TSA, IATA, and CBP regulations.
  • Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification is a plus.

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in air freight operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of international air freight regulations, customs procedures, and gateway operations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics systems (e.g., CargoWise, SAP, or similar platforms).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.
  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

California required disclosure: Salary range for this position is between USD 95,000 - 130,000 annually.
