As a Senior Software Engineer on the Taco Bell Experience Team, you will design, build, and enhance Taco Bell's digital commerce experiences. Working as a hands-on engineer, you will develop modern, scalable web applications that deliver fast, intuitive, and engaging customer journeys across discovery, ordering, and checkout.
Partnering closely with Product, UX, Platform Engineering, Analytics, and market stakeholders, you will help deliver high-quality front-end solutions that balance performance, accessibility, maintainability, and speed to market. This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about creating exceptional customer experiences, solving complex technical challenges, and delivering impact at global scale.
Design and implement scalable front-end applications and shared components that power Taco Bell's digital commerce experiences.
Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces using modern web technologies and front-end frameworks such as React and Next.js.
Drive best practices for component architecture, design systems, state management, and scalable front-end application structure.
Partner with Product, Design, and Back-End teams to deliver seamless end-to-end customer journeys across browsing, customization, ordering, and checkout flows.
Support market-specific custom development while maintaining a scalable core platform, consistent user experience, and strong code quality standards.
Collaborate on analytics instrumentation, A/B testing, and experimentation initiatives to continuously improve conversion and customer engagement.
Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices to improve code quality, maintainability, and team effectiveness.
Partner with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to plan releases, phased rollouts, and continuous delivery practices.
Troubleshoot production issues and use monitoring and observability tools to improve application reliability, performance, and customer experience.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to improve development efficiency, code quality, and team productivity.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years building and operating modern React-based production applications in customer-facing environments.
Experience designing and building scalable front-end applications for customer-facing digital products, with a strong understanding of modern web architecture and engineering best practices.
Experience delivering modern web applications in high-traffic e-commerce, retail, or consumer digital environments.
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
Excellent collaboration and English communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency
JavaScript/TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, or similar.
HTML, CSS, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility best practices.
State management, API integration, and modern rendering patterns for web applications.
Web performance optimization, accessibility standards, and front-end testing practices.
Familiarity with server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), component-driven development, and reusable UI architecture.
Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
Strong Experience With
Component-based architecture and reusable UI systems.
CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
Front-end testing tools and quality practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Design systems, analytics instrumentation, experimentation, and SEO considerations in digital commerce environments.
Monitoring front-end performance and using data to guide customer experience improvements.
Deploying, debugging, and operating applications in cloud-native environments.
Monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability practices for production applications.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting high-traffic e-commerce or consumer-facing web applications.
Experience with design systems and close collaboration with UX/UI teams.
Knowledge of observability, analytics instrumentation, and performance monitoring for front-end applications.
Experience integrating with GraphQL or REST-based APIs.
Experience integrating with Headless CMS platforms such as Contentful.
Familiarity with feature flagging, experimentation, and A/B testing platforms.
Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and modern observability tooling.
Background in restaurant technology, digital ordering, loyalty, or retail operations.
Experience using AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate software delivery and engineering effectiveness.
