The Senior Financial Analyst is
responsible for managing the financial aid fund portfolio to ensure the
effective administration of federal, state, and institutional financial assistance
programs. This position is responsible for account balances; budget administration; cost
analysis, program, financial, and operational analysis; adjusting entries;
financial reports; and documents related to all financial aid funds and collaborates
with academic and administrative departments to maintain financial aid within
the student information system.

This role monitors fund expenditure and allocations
throughout the award year by performing reconciliations, analyzing spending
trends, and recommending reallocations or additional awarding opportunities to
maximize available resources. The Analyst identifies and implements process
improvements that enhance operational efficiency, strengthen compliance, and
improves the student financial aid experience. Actively participates in the
preparation of the FISAP, Texas State’s FADS reporting, and submissions to the
Federal COD system. Supports preparation of audit materials.

Performs complex budget and financial analyses for assigned functional area. Reviews and researches accounting transactions through Alamo Colleges enterprise reporting program (ERP) and subsidiary systems. Prepares reporting packages for senior management.

Reports to the Department of Finance and Fiscal Services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
  • Five years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in business administration.
  • Three years of related experience in a government entity and/or public education.

Licenses and Cetifications:

  • Prefer certified public accountant certification.
