Cedar LNG is a floating LNG facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, within the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation. The project is strategically positioned to leverage Canada’s abundant natural gas supply and British Columbia’s growing LNG infrastructure to produce industry-leading, low-carbon, cost-competitive Canadian LNG for overseas markets. Cedar LNG will have one of the cleanest environmental profiles in the world and will provide unprecedented opportunities for both the Haisla Nation and the region.

This is a unique opportunity to join both Pembina and Cedar at an exciting time. For this role, we are looking for someone to be involved in both assisting the project execution teams as they focus on completing Cedar on time and on budget but also getting involved in preparation work required for operational readiness, and beyond.

For this role, we are seeking an experienced and well-rounded finance/accounting professional who can take on a wide range of responsibilities including month end accounting, planning and forecasting, management scorecard reporting, financial reporting, and collaborating with a number of the other internal teams within Pembina.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

The primary responsibilities, deliverables and accountabilities across both the Cedar project and the Pembina LNG Business Unit include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial Reporting
    • Assist with, while closely collaborating with project controls, the preparation of the monthly project reporting
    • Assist in the internal reviews and reporting on project costs
    • Preparing monthly accounting journal entries including capital, expense, intercompany and equity
    • Prepare and track related party accounts, invoicing, reporting, and reconciliations
    • Prepare supporting account reconciliations, including using Blackline
    • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly government claims and filings
    • Assist in the preparation of the monthly management scorecards and quarterly scorecards
    • Assist in the preparation of the reporting to the Cedar Board and Senior Leadership
    • Collaborate closely with the other internal teams within Pembina including, but not limited to, corporate accounting, supply chain, and tax
  • Business Planning
    • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and budget presentation materials
    • Assist with the monthly financial forecasts
  • Audits
    • Assist and support in the annual preparation and audit of the Cedar financial statements
  • Operational Readiness
    • Assist in the planning, preparation, and collaboration required to prepare Cedar for transition into operations (predominately focused on operating costs and the supporting systems)
  • Undertake ad-hoc finance / accounting requests and/or provide project support as required; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or other applicable curriculum;
  • A CPA or CFA designation is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial reporting and / or financial planning and analysis;
  • Experience with SAP and BPC (Business Planning & Consolidation) is preferred
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles such as IFRS
  • Demonstrated financial modelling skills
  • A thorough and attentive focus on detail;
  • The ability to simultaneously co-ordinate multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated success working independently as well as in a multifunctional team environment.
