Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis the Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and analytical concepts or techniques for financial planning and control. Assists leadership with the interpretation, evaluation, and interrelationship of research data and generates integrated business analysis and projections to facilitate decision-making. In addition, this role serves as a functional owner of the Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) environment—governing data quality, validating integrations, and ensuring template and hierarchy alignment across planning modules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Uses advanced mathematical and statistical concepts and theories, develops complex financial statistical models, conducts special studies to analyze financial actions and prepares recommendation for policy, procedure, control, or action. Performs financial, market, operational, and related research to support strategic and business planning within the department as directed by the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.
2. Administers the EPM planning environment, including data governance, scheduled data-load validation (financial, statistical, and operational), hierarchy/metadata stewardship, user workflow, and reconciliation to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and source systems.
3. Prepares monthly statistical reports of the performance of revenue centers, reviewing P&L statements, and reporting on and tracking department-specific key performance indicators (KPIs). Researches, documents, analyzes, and reports all relevant financial information regarding the operation of these business units.
4. Designs, maintains, and continuously improves Budget and Forecast input templates—including department templates and consolidated P&L templates with statistical drivers and assumptions modules—within EPM.
5. Owns and manages the Labor Planning Cube, including configuration of labor drivers, position/shift assumptions, rate and burden logic, variance diagnostics, and reconciliation of labor outputs to financial forecasts.
6. Partners with operating department leadership to develop, evaluate, and revise methodologies for measuring and forecasting performance.
7. Prepares annual revenue and expense forecasts for business units, and projects the expected performance of specific KPIs as defined by the strategies and goals determined by executive leadership.
8. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field required.

  • Minimum four (4) years of related casino experience working in corporate finance, financial planning, accounting, enterprise resource planning (ERP) business analysis required.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Hands-on experience administering or building within an Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) platform (e.g., Oracle EPM/Hyperion, Anaplan, Workday Adaptive Planning, IBM TM1/Planning Analytics).

  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining complex financial/statistical models.

  • Capability to manage relational databases and enterprise reporting/BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

  • Skilled in performing management analysis in a large-scale organization.

  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required; experience with Access or SQL-based tools preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, and variance analysis methodologies including driver-based planning and statistical modeling.

  • Working knowledge of data governance and integration best practices across ERP → EPM workflows; ability to troubleshoot data-load and metadata issues.

  • Proficiency with BI/dashboards and the ability to translate business questions into analytical outputs and practical recommendations.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-ready presentations and to train non-finance users on templates and processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and accuracy.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.

  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.

  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.

  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.

  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.

  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.

  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.

  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.

  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
