Job Description

The Senior Export Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the execution of global export compliance and sanctions compliance programs by performing first-level trade compliance reviews, sanctions screening activities, and export transaction monitoring. This role serves as a critical interface between business operations, SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS), Export Compliance Officers, and Sanctions Compliance teams to ensure transactions are processed in accordance with applicable export control regulations, sanctions requirements, and company policies.

The position plays a key role in reducing compliance risk, maintaining operational continuity, and supporting timely resolution of compliance-related transaction holds and screening alerts.

Sanctioned Party Screening (SPL)

• Perform first-level review and disposition of Sanctioned Party List (SPL) screening alerts generated through SAP GTS and related compliance tools.
• Conduct due diligence on potential matches by reviewing customer, supplier, consignee, end-user, forwarding agent, and other transaction party information.
• Differentiate false positives from potential compliance concerns using established procedures and risk-based assessment criteria.
• Escalate confirmed or elevated-risk matches to the Sanctions Compliance Team for secondary review and approval.
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit records for all screening activities and determinations.
• Monitor screening queues to ensure timely review and resolution of compliance holds.

SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS)

• Utilize SAP GTS to review and manage SPL, embargo, legal control, and export compliance blocks.
• Support investigation and resolution of transaction holds impacting customer orders, deliveries, purchase orders, and shipments.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders to gather information required for hold releases and compliance determinations.
• Verify data accuracy within GTS and support correction of master data issues impacting compliance screening.
• Assist with system testing, process improvements, and user acceptance activities related to GTS enhancements.

Coordination and Stakeholder Support

• Serve as a primary point of contact for business users regarding SPL alerts, export holds, and compliance-related inquiries.
• Coordinate closely with Export Compliance Officers, Sanctions Compliance teams, Logistics, Customer Service, and Supply Chain organizations.
• Facilitate collection of documentation and approvals required to support transaction releases.
• Provide guidance and awareness to internal stakeholders on export compliance and sanctions screening requirements.
• Support internal and external audit activities through documentation retrieval and compliance evidence preparation.

Compliance Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance processes are executed in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor trends in screening results and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist in development of training materials, job aids, and process documentation.
• Support implementation of process standardization, automation, and efficiency initiatives.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Export Compliance, Trade Compliance, Global Trade Services, Logistics Compliance, or related areas.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with SAP GTS or similar trade compliance platforms.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience performing sanctions screening, restricted party screening, or export transaction reviews.

• Bachelor's degree in International Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Law, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Knowledge of U.S. export regulations (EAR, ITAR, OFAC) and international sanctions programs.
• Experience supporting global sanctions compliance programs.
• Familiarity with denied party screening, embargo reviews, and export licensing concepts.
• Experience working in a multinational manufacturing, aerospace, industrial, or technology environment.
• Knowledge of SAP ERP integration with SAP GTS.
• Experience supporting compliance audits and investigations.
