Job Description

As a Product Assurance Manager, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the safety, compliance, and engineering quality of our solar and energy storage products. Your leadership and technical contributions will be pivotal in guiding a team of skilled engineers to develop safe and compliant products and systems. The Product Assurance manager will ensure effective best-in-class design verification processes, provide direction/guidance to facilitate effective verification of product designs, and identify, plan and implement departmental activities and initiatives to improve effectiveness of product development/verification processes and assure robust and reliable products.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers dedicated to product assurance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive product assurance programs that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure verification processes/tools effectively qualify design compliance with established design requirements/specifications, and/or deployment in customer environments & applications.
  • Ensure product requirements are properly captured and tracked and are met with the design through rigorous testing and documentation.
  • Oversee product safety initiatives, ensuring all products meet or exceed safety standards per GE Vernova process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical codes and standards relevant to the solar and energy storage industry such as safety, fire, and cyber security.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to integrate product assurance considerations into the design process.
  • Lead cybersecurity efforts to protect product data and control systems from potential threats.
  • Design and implement testing protocols to evaluate product performance, durability, and reliability.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and data-driven methods to optimize systems engineering processes, improve product performance, and support better lifecycle decision-making.
  • Develop fire protection strategies for products and systems, ensuring they adhere to the highest safety standards.
  • Work with quality control teams to identify and resolve product issues promptly.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on product assurance matters, including fire safety protocols.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders regarding product assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with other GE Vernova businesses in product assurance areas to leverage other activities and share best practices.
  • Manage the intellectual property lifecycle through the design review process. Maintain the organization’s patent library in coordination with the IP legal counsel office.
  • Publish and maintain a current set of customer-facing documents for the products through their lifecycles.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, product development, product lifecycle management, or related technical leadership roles.
  • 3+ years of experience leading technical teams in alignment with the GE Vernova Way, with a focus on accountability, collaboration, talent development, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of product safety, technical codes and standards, cybersecurity, testing methodologies, and fire protection strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong communication, influence, and problem-solving skills. Ability to explain highly technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical leadership.

  • Travel as needed 15% domestically or internally.
  • The required work location for this role is Schenectady, NY.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
