Engineering Manager - Controls

What you will do

The Engineering Manager is accountable for leading Building Automation System (BAS) engineering delivery across global projects, ensuring adherence to country‑specific standards, quality benchmarks, and on‑time execution. The role oversees hardware, software, and graphics engineering streams, managing a team of 30–50 engineers in collaboration with delivery managers. The position requires strong leadership, operational discipline, and a continuous improvement mindset.

How you will do it

  • Own regional KPIs with delivery managers and ensure consistent achievement of business targets.
  • Analyze regional performance and refine organizational design to support evolving business needs.
  • Manage account receivables and uphold financial discipline across the region.
  • Strengthen stakeholder relationships with JC branches, customers, and GCE teams to enable smooth business operations.
  • Build customer trust to support business growth and repeat engagements.
  • Allocate engineering capacity across delivery teams to meet project priorities and regional demands.
  • Maintain team competence across hardware, software, and graphics engineering streams.
  • Lead operational reviews and ensure governance, quality checks, and compliance with all deliveries.
  • Drive project reviews to ensure defect‑free, on‑time, and high‑quality engineering output.
  • Implement continuous improvement using LEAN principles to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and streamline workflows.
  • Develop team capabilities through structured learning, coaching, and skill‑building.
  • Manage performance with clear goals, continuous feedback, and measurable outcomes.
  • Mentor team members to achieve competency targets and align with organizational expectations.
  • Drive innovation, automation, and best‑practice adoption across engineering workflows.
  • Enable proactive problem‑solving and encourage LEAN‑driven improvements across all engineering streams.

What we look for

  • BE/ME in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or E&C, with strong fundamentals in controls engineering.
  • Understanding of BAS/BMS architecture including operator workstations, supervisory controllers, DDCs, sensors, actuators, and system integration.
  • Strong HVAC knowledge across CHW plants, cooling towers, pumping systems, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, and related control strategies.
  • Experience delivering HVAC/BMS/industrial automation projects for pharma, airports, commercial buildings, hospitals, or similar infrastructure.
  • Ability to drive KPIs and operational performance across regional engineering teams.
  • Capability in resource planning, workload balancing, and optimizing engineering capacity.
  • Experience in quality governance, project reviews, and ensuring defect‑free, on‑time engineering delivery.
  • LEAN mindset with demonstrated ability to reduce waste, streamline workflows, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong people leadership — mentoring, coaching, performance management, and competency development.
  • Ability to build high‑performance teams through accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional coordination and customer interactions.

Preferred

12–18 years of experience in Building Automation Systems / BMS Design Engineering, including multi‑disciplinary team management.
