Job Description

The Sr. Engineering Manager, uses a platform agnostic approach to oversee the design, delivery and sustainment to aircraft baselines and revisions. As a technical leader of a multi-discipline team, you will develop and update program hardware, software and processes; manage IPT and subcontractor development efforts; integrate new/updated COTS/GOTS into the baseline; support Engineering Change Proposals; support system checkout and support the Test & Evaluation team throughout contractor testing and system fielding. You will also support the growth capability to posture our team for MOSA/SOSA requirements as well as assist with the strategic alignment focusing on the future of system integration on new aviation platforms.

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Airworthiness Compliance: Ensuring all engineering designs, modifications, and repairs strictly adhere to aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL-STD, etc.).
  • Certification Support: Overseeing the preparation, review, and submission of technical documentation for Type Certifications (TC) or Supplemental Type Certifications (STC).
  • Audit Readiness: Leading the engineering team through rigorous internal and external quality audits to maintain company certification status (AS9100, Engineering Edge).
  • Safety-Critical Design: Enforcing strict adherence to Configuration Management and system safety assessment processes to guarantee flight safety.
  • Technical Reviews: Chairing Design Reviews (PDR/CDR) and sign-offs for complex aerospace hardware, software, or airborne electronic hardware.
  • Resource Allocation: Managing a team of specialized engineers (e.g., structural, mechanical, production, electrical, etc.) and assigning them to project milestones based on capacity and expertise.
  • Mentorship & Training: Upskilling engineers on complex aerospace requirements, structural analysis software, and evolving regulatory frameworks.
  • Milestone Execution: Driving engineering schedules to hit strict aviation milestones, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Chief Engineers across the portfolio to transition designs into physical production.

Basic Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a minimum of 8 years of related work experience
  • Mission Equipment Payload (MEP) systems integration experience in manned or unmanned ISR fixed-wing aircraft to include outer mold line modifications (8 years minimum).
  • Work experience with aircraft manufacturing, modification, and/or repair station operations
  • Familiarity with FAA and DOD Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) Programs and Airworthiness Policies
  • Technical leadership experience (8 years minimum) leading a medium-to-large program supporting design, development, integration, and testing of a complex, multi-component ISR system into manned or unmanned fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Ability to mentor and lead a technical team.

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Modular & Open Architectures: Experience implementing Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) or Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) frameworks to support rapid technology insertion.
  • System Integration: Expertise in integrating complex airborne sensor payloads, including Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), or Long-Range Radar (LRR) systems.
  • Lifecycle Tools: Proficiency with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and robust configuration management practices.
  • Platform Modification Experience: Engineering experience with Business Class Jets, DCH-8, and Beechcraft King Air 200 & 300

Pay Range:

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
