The Molex Global Supplier Quality team collaborates with Procurement, Quality, and New Product Development teams globally to create the maximum long-term value by driving successful supplier launches, direct material optimization and supplier operational excellence with best-in-class quality and delivery performance.

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer collaborates with global teams to qualify, monitor and drive quality improvements for outsourced suppliers, especially for injection molding to better support DSS CSBU growth.This position reports to the Senior Manager of Global Supplier Quality and will be located in Southern China (Molex DG or Shenzhen):

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Collaborate with global procurement sourcing team and Quality Engineers on new supplier qualifications, product and/or process development with outsourced suppliers.

· Collaborate with BU or Molex plant mold product / process engineering on new injection mold development projects: concept tool designs, DFM analysis, verification of concepts through Moldflow simulation, development of qualification requirements, follow-up with suppliers (remotely and on-site) for tool qualification, scientific molding processes development, product review and disposition, and launch support into operations

· Work directly with new product teams and advise on robust injection mold design for manufacturability of new products.

· Review Moldflow simulation results to improve and drive more-successful tool and part designs, verifying actual parts against predictions.

· Analyzing part data and communicating findings and recommendations for improvements. Objective is to minimize tooling adjustments through thorough investigation and well-planned, executed tooling strategy.

  • Establish molding process parameters scientifically, using cavity pressure technology in a way that assures the best and most consistent process. Transfer data and lessons learned to other process engineers to expand their knowledge.
  • Leverage statistical techniques and methods such as Design of Experiments (DOE) to develop robust processes and translate process information to guidelines, creating long term value.
  • Ensure that all documentation (Mold estimates, CAE results, tooling plans, mold designs, process development, QC reports, etc.) for assigned molds during the qualification phase are complete and properly stored.
  • Provide technical support to resolve issues (equipment, process, and tooling) and assist the operations team with outsourced supplier quality problem resolution to meet delivery and quality requirement for new product or customer order fulfillment.
  • Work directly with PDE and QA/DQE on disposition and develop a detailed tooling modification plan for adjustment until the tool meets the drawing requirements.

· Join the mold and process handover to ensure the project transfers smoothly, provide remote or on-site support to finalize the process and launch the project into production.

· Guide / coach suppliers to achieve zero defects, Quality Notification improvement, and decrease in Cost of Poor Quality

· Conduct Quality Management System audits, process audits, and FMEA/Control Plan reviews. Document audit report including findings. Monitor and review supplier’s corrective actions for effectiveness, and ensure the completion of corrective actions on time

· Support Category Management team to help plan supplier business reviews

· Provide support to other Supplier Quality functions as required and/or assigned by team leadership

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor in Plastics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering

· Understanding of injection molding/tooling development.

  • Use of engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques associated with scientific molding. A working knowledge and experience with molding machines and ancillary equipment.
  • Experience with CAD and other 3-D modeling software (NX preferred).
  • Basic understanding of GD&T for reviewing product prints.
  • 10+ years of experience in process and tooling experience.
  • Practical experience in the execution of quality system and process audits

· Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor

· Familiar with quality tools, such as FMEA, Control Plan, etc.

· Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills

· Ability to travel up to 50%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· RJG Master Molder I/II

· Must be a team player that is willing to cooperate with and consider input from supervisor, co-workers, and members from other functional areas.

· Experience in a fasted paced, dynamic, global environment with multiple changing priorities. Experience working as lead with remote sites and outside vendors.

· Experience in mold design.

· Experience using MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and familiar with applications such as Minitab and SAP
