Job Description

Job Title: Technical Engineer

Function/Department: Engineering (Busbar Product Line)

Reports to: Regional, Engineering Manager (Busbar LOB)

Location: Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

& ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Technical Engineer plays a critical role in all engineering-related activities to support the growth of the Busbar global line of business. The incumbent will provide technical expertise to the project team while supporting the Busbar engineering team to ensure technical compliance with our type-tested design and IEC standards.

This position requires in-depth knowledge of Vertiv's busbar product range and strong collaboration across Vertiv’s estimation, sales, offering, engineering, and project delivery teams to leverage common designs and type-tested products.

This opportunity is for someone who wants to work within a technically driven team with minimal functional management and continue to build on the reputation we have created around the world. The role requires strong collaboration across Vertiv’s busbar line of Business to leverage common standards and design tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the sales and project teams to understand customer requirements and provide technical solutions in line with current type-tested product offerings.
  • Provide input and review technical drawing Submissions from the mechanical engineering team prior to issuing them to the customer and releasing them to production.
  • Assist in the development and release of standardized engineering documentation such as drawings and BOMs.
  • Coordinate cross-plant problem-solving teams to improve project and engineering performances.
  • Assist the project team in preparing the design drawings and documentation in line with the specification requirements for the Busbar package for different plants.
  • Establish procedures and provide direct support for plant-to-plant product transfers and new product development programs.
  • Preparation of Wiring diagrams

Requirements:

  • in-depth knowledge of Vertiv's Busbar product range
  • PC working knowledge (IFS, MS Office, CADD, PDM system)
  • Strong Technical and Mechanical aptitude
  • Aptitude for problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Display a proactive flexible approach to working within a team environment.
  • Advantage: BIM & 3D drawing packages (Solid Works & Revit)
  • Ability to self-manage, be self-motivated and deliver to project milestones.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills
  • Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information.
  • Review and analyze a variety of engineering data, documents, and reports.
  • Prepare design models for the new project using available design tools and programming, work with sales team, project management, and customers.
  • Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.
  • Assist in the preparation of necessary design instructions for mechanical design and electrical draughtman.
  • Prepare Bill of Material for Switchgear Assemblies using available tools.
  • Prepare shop drawings and other related documents for Production.
  • Actively engage in sorting out the issues if any at the production floor and at site.
  • Prepare replies to customer comments on technical submittals in coordination with project management.
  • Attend meeting with customers/contractors/ consultants for technical discussions.
  • Prepare design calculations including DC Load, power consumption & heat dissipation data calculations.
  • Three or more years of experience in a technical role
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4-year degree in engineering-related field (Minimum)
  • Graduate in Electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in design of Low voltage switchgear.
  • Hands on experience of Auto CAD.
  • Knowledge of relevant IEC codes and standards.
  • Good planning and organization skills.
  • Team player
  • Strong willingness to share knowledge and/or experience ability to listen and be open to other ideas.
  • Ability to show a proactive attitude.
  • Offers advice and proposes solutions when risks/ opportunities arise.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4-year degree in engineering-related field (Minimum)
  • Graduate in Electrical engineering or equivalent.
