Job Description

As a Sr Engineer, you’ll be supporting the Suitability product team within the Legal and Compliance Portfolio and will serve as the day-to-day technical lead for a team focused on compliance and regulatory checks related to suitability. In this role, you will provide technical guidance, remove blockers by addressing engineering challenges, and help ensure solutions align with business needs, regulatory expectations, and long-term technology strategy. You will partner closely with the Product Owner, Staff Engineer, Portfolio Architect, and team members to evaluate design options, shape solution approaches, and support delivery of business-critical software solutions.

This role is responsible for advancing engineering practices across the team and broader portfolio by promoting automation, cloud-hosted solutions, AI-enabled tools, code modernization, test automation, and vulnerability management. You will help define and track engineering improvement metrics, drive adherence to standards, and identify opportunities to improve speed, efficiency, and quality.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to provide technical leadership to drive an execution team through ambiguity to reach innovative ways to solve solutions.
  • Ability to design and engineer software solutions, including documenting, collaborating and aligning with portfolio architects, solution architects, and the local team.
  • Strong ability to communicate, facilitate, and educate within a group setting.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with others to solve local problems or complex design solutions both in and outside the team.
  • Ability to balance problem solving or working on a variety of systems unrelated to one another.
  • Passion and appetite to drive technical improvements with the goal of speeding up delivery.
  • Assist, coach, and mentor other engineers on the team with day-to-day challenges, complex coding issues and/or problem solving.
  • The ability to translate and communicate complex technical issues into simple terms so other non-technical people outside of technology can understand.
  • Experienced in maturing DevOps and engineering practices.
  • Experience in engineering of either existing or new solutions, enterprise integrations patterns, and/or microservices architecture.
  • Passion for continuous learning and sharing learnings with others.
  • Ability to solve complex problems into sustainable and long-term solutions
  • Familiarity with LLM and experience with agentic AI platforms.
  • Familiar with AI governance, model risk management, or responsible AI practices in financial services or another regulated industry.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering environments, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating a detailed software engineering plan to deliver
  • 7+ years in Java, spring framework
  • 5+ years leveraging database platforms (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo)
  • 3+ years with event driven and microservices design
  • 3+ years of data analysis, business rules, new data sourcing discovery
  • 3+ years using GitHub, DevOps practices, and tools
  • 2+ years using Openshift, event driven technologies (Kafka, Rabbit)
  • Sound knowledge of industry standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices
  • Sound knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of systems design concepts that provide security and stability
  • Expertise in debugging code and/or complex log files for troubleshooting and analysis of product defects
  • Expert knowledge/experience with querying databases for complex data lookup/update
  • Perform code reviews with associate team members

Preferred:

  • Financial Services industry experience
  • Coach / mentor other team members as appropriate

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $104,063.00 - $140,793.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions.
