We are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, and support of advanced electronic systems from concept through production. As part of the R&D team in Saskatoon, SK, you will contribute to the development of ground‑fault detection devices and protective relay technologies used for personal and equipment protection—such as ground‑fault relays, ground‑fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs), and other safety‑critical electronic systems This role requires deep technical expertise in mixed‑signal design, strong analytical capability, and the ability to collaborate across firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for new and existing products.
  • Create detailed circuit schematics and perform simulations to validate performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Own critical technical decisions related to architecture, component selection, and system-level design tradeoffs.
  • Oversee PCB layout activities with a focus on signal integrity, power distribution, EMC, thermal considerations, and manufacturability.
  • Review PCB designs for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to best practices.
  • Evaluate and select electronic components based on performance, availability, lifecycle, and cost considerations.
  • Lead prototype bring‑up, testing, and design verification activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware issues and guide corrective actions across engineering teams.
  • Develop and execute robust verification and validation test plans.
  • Work closely with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of electronics into the full product architecture.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Generate comprehensive design documentation including specifications, test plans, test reports, and ECOs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety and regulatory standards (e.g., UL, cUL, CE, EMC).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in electronics design or product development.
  • Strong understanding of analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex hardware systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded hardware development and/or working alongside firmware teams.
  • Familiarity with SPICE-based simulation tools.
  • Experience with products that involve line-voltage or high-power electronics.
  • Scripting or automation experience (Python preferred).
  • Knowledge of UL/cUL/CE standards and certification processes.
  • Background supporting products through manufacturing, sustaining, or compliance phases.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • You independently lead complex electronics development efforts from concept through launch.
  • You provide technical leadership across engineering disciplines and raise the capability of junior team members.
  • Your designs consistently meet performance, cost, reliability, and compliance goals.
  • You enhance documentation, design review rigor, and engineering processes across the team.
