With increased DoD focus on modernization, Moog’s Hypersonic Vehicle Systems (HVS) team is a fast-growing segment within our Space and Defense Group. We’re leveraging our expertise in precision actuation, thrust vector control, attitude control, control electronics and software to provide a variety of complex integrated guidance, navigation and control (iGNC) system solutions in the hypersonic vehicle market.

We’re looking for a Senior Electronic Design Engineer interested in career growth and being part of a team committed to the development of critical next-generation hypersonic systems.

To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 10+ years of design and development engineering work experience

  • Strong hands-on mindset

  • Significant knowledge of engineering fundamentals

  • Motor Control Electronics Experience

  • Power Electronics Experience

  • Team-oriented mindset, with the desire to lead and contribute to a high functioning team

  • Self-motivated approach, with strong critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Proficient communication skills, both in writing technical documentation and in public speaking presentations

  • The ability to manage competing priorities of multiple stakeholders.

  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

  • Ability to work onsite in Elma, NY (remote candidates will not be considered)

It would be great if you also had:

  • MS Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in the Aerospace industry

  • Experience with military standards (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810); RTCA/DO-254, and RTCA/DO-160 standards

  • Radiation-Hardened electronics experience

  • Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods, tools, and processes

  • Familiarity with embedded systems/firmware and software development

  • Current security clearance

As a Senior Electronic Design Engineer, you will:

  • Drive the development of the control electronics at the heart of our system solutions

  • Influence the development of new product requirements through consulting with customers, our business development team and across engineering disciplines

  • Guide the evolution of the conceptual and detailed design phases through verification and certification

  • Lead and perform prototype testing, integration testing, and design verification and validation testing

  • Create detailed Verification and Validation plans and procedures for the testing of control electronics. Investigate and create new test methods and approaches.

  • Serve as a technical reference point for internal and external communications

  • Support various aspects of technical project planning, including designs, proposals, cost estimates, schedules and technical interface meetings throughout the program lifecycle

  • Prepare, organize, and make presentations to internal and external customers in support of design reviews, technical interface meetings and business development

  • Perform trade studies and analyses to validate conceptual designs

  • Foster design reviews, validating adherence to internal standards

  • Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its leading-edge technical reputation

  • Mentor and coach engineers within the electronics team to build capability and technical depth

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $93,000.00–$140,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
