Summary
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Sr Electrical Engineer is responsible for sustaining, value-engineering, and new product development activities related to electrical control systems and PCBAs. This role partners with cross-functional teams to design, evaluate, validate, and improve system-level performance, reliability, manufacturability, and compliance of electronic control solutions used across spa, pool, and bath applications.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, and improve spa, pool, and bath electrical control systems and control panel boards (PCBA).
- Lead system-level design activities, including power, control, interfaces, and integration across hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems.
- Investigate and utilize new technologies where appropriate.
- Investigate and resolve product problems on new and legacy products using structured root cause analysis and corrective action methods.
- Work with the electrical design team to improve product manufacturability, testability, and reliability.
- Develop schematics, select components, and oversee PCB buildouts.
- Define and support verification and validation activities for electrical systems and PCBAs.
- Work with the Test Engineering team to develop customized PCBAs for signal conditioning, testing, and production support.
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and sourcing teams.
- Provide support for sustaining and new product issues in manufacturing and the field.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable government, safety, and regulatory requirements, and support certification efforts as needed.
- Support continual cost reduction efforts while maintaining product quality, compliance, and company reputation.
QualificationsEducation Requirements
- Bachelor Of Science in Electrical Engineering
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in electronics systems design and development; 3+ years of experience in a PCBA manufacturing environment is desirable.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Experience should include microcontrollers, power supplies, RF circuits, and system-level integration of electronic controls.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic and PCB layout.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, hardware/software interfaces, and design tradeoffs for embedded control systems.
- Experience with verification, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and PCBAs.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and reliability in production environments.
- Familiarity with applicable safety, regulatory, and compliance standards such as UL, IEC, EMI/EMC, or similar product certification requirements.
- Experience developing electronics products for wet or harsh environments is a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize a changing workload.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and drive solutions to completion.
- Ability to interact with coworkers, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to travel internationally and willingness to attend global meetings across different time zones.
