What you'll be doing

As the Senior Director, Platform Services, you'll play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the technology operations that underpin CIBC's business. You'll oversee mid-sized teams responsible for the ongoing operation and implementation of critical lending, deposit, insurance, and payments applications and infrastructure, ensuring operational stability and excellence. Your strategic vision will guide long-term planning and execution, including modernizing processes and deploying technology solutions efficiently. You'll manage the financials of this team with a business owner lens and champion automation, AI, and 7x24 scale to ensure robust observability, controls, and application resiliency across all environments—from test to production. Building strong relationships with internal and external partners is key, as is managing communications during high-stress situations. Your leadership will drive innovation and continuous improvement to achieve best-in-class application availability.

How you'll succeed

  • Leadership & People Management – Lead, motivate, and develop teams by setting operational objectives, coaching, and fostering a positive, high-performance environment aligned with CIBC’s values.

  • Production Support Oversight – Direct the ongoing operation and implementation of production applications and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with service standards and operational stability.

  • Strategic Planning & Execution – Develop and execute long-term strategies for Production Support, present to senior management, and drive initiatives to automate and optimize processes.

  • Project & Program Management – Oversee large annual budgets, resource allocation, and execution for technology-related projects and programs, ensuring timely deployment of solutions.

  • Business Operations & Process Improvement – Sponsor and lead operational and process improvement initiatives, owning end-to-end efficiency and cost of processes while ensuring robust governance.

  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management – Build and maintain strong relationships with partners across the organization, influence and align multiple stakeholders, and manage communications during crisis situations.

  • Risk, Compliance & Governance – Ensure compliance with regulatory, governance, and audit requirements, managing risk assessments and operational alternatives.

  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement – Identify and implement opportunities for automation and technical innovation, driving process improvements to enhance service delivery.

Who you are

  • You’re an experienced leader. You bring extensive experience in production support and technology operations, ideally with 10+ years in the field. You have DevSecOps, SRE, and CI/CD expertise. You bring experience in DevSecOps and Site Reliability Engineering, and have built and managed CI/CD pipelines to support operational excellence and automation. You’re skilled in cloud and data operations. You have significant hands-on experience operating applications in Azure, including Red Hat OpenShift and Service Mesh, and have managed Data Engineering teams and data pipelines in a production environment.

  • You’re a strategic thinker. You have a proven ability to develop and execute long-term strategies that align with business goals and drive operational excellence.

  • You’re skilled in stakeholder management You excel at building relationships and influencing partners across the organization, including during high-pressure situations.

  • You have deep industry knowledge. You understand banking or capital markets technology, systems, and regulatory environments.

  • You’re financially savvy. You have experience managing large budgets and delivering cost-effective solutions.
