Job Description

Flex is the diversified manufacturing partner of choice that helps market-leading brands design, build and deliver innovative products that improve the world.

A career at Flex offers the opportunity to make a difference and invest in your growth in a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment. If you are excited about a role but don't meet every bullet point, we encourage you to apply and join us to create the extraordinary.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Sr Director, Engineering located in Guadalajara, North Campus

Reporting to the VP Operations, Sr Director, Engineering will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution of SMT process engineering and manufacturing technology roadmap-driving robust, scalable processes through high-volume production. Working with cross-functional teams will identify process gaps, develop solutions, and industrialize improvements through site qualification and mass production.

The Sr Director, engineering will manage multiple projects in parallel balancing schedule, cost, and technical performance while supporting customer engagement during early phases and pre-quote to win new business. With core focus in SMT industrialization: partnering with design teams, defining line concepts and equipment strategy, establishing process windows, and deploying standard methods to improve yield, reduce defects, and sustain performance across multiple SMT lines. Also, will ensure test readiness and coordinate deployment/qualification of liquid cooling solutions, supported by training and site qualification to prevent escalations.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Lead deployment and standardization of SMT process engineering methods across business unit and site.
  • Drive process development from NPI to high-volume production: line concepts, equipment strategy, and site readiness.
  • Define and own standard work for SMT (process windows, controls, and qualification plans) to enable repeatable production.
  • Ensure projects deliver to scope, schedule, and budget, with clear KPIs for yield, quality, and throughput.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a senior engineering team; provide technical direction and hands-on program leadership when needed.
  • Partner with Design/BU teams on DFM/DFA to ensure products are manufacturable and optimized for SMT process capability.
  • Build and scale the organization (hiring/resourcing) to support multiple simultaneous SMT industrialization and technology projects.
  • Ensure disciplined execution of governance (PFMEA, control plans, training, and site qualification) to sustain improvements and prevent escalations.

The Experience we are looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related discipline; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years in PCBA/manufacturing engineering, with 7+ years leading teams/programs.
  • Proven leadership delivering SMT industrialization results across multiple lines/sites.
  • Strong process engineering toolkit: defect reduction/root cause, process capability, standard work, and governance (PFMEA, control plans, and qualifications).
  • Deep SMT technical knowledge for complex assemblies (e.g., high-density BGAs/ASIC/CPU/GPU), including line/equipment strategy, process windows, NPI-HVM qualification, and PCB/DFM considerations.
  • Exposure to thermal integration and liquid cooling in final assembly, and partnership with test engineering to ensure test readiness and smooth production release.

What you’ll receive for the great work you provide:

  • Competitive Salary.
  • Life & Medical insurance.
  • Christmas Bonus.
  • Food Coupons.
  • Saving Fund.
