Job Description

Responsible for leading the global marketing communications strategy through brand development within Smart Communications – across all communications channels. Own the Smart Communications brand through events, PR leadership, website/digital ownership, and support of analyst relations strategy.

The Sr. Director of Marketing Communications manages a team responsible for

Brand Strategy

  • Manage an overarching brand strategy that promotes brand recognition to gain a competitive advantage
  • Lead as a best-in-class brand builder and industry visionary with a track record of dramatically increasing brand engagement, customer advocates, and generating business growth.
  • Ensure the Smart Communications brand is delivered consistently, cohesively, and in a compelling manner across all communications vehicles, monitoring and providing new logo packages, brand guidelines, boiler plate language, messaging, and strategic direction as need be internally and externally.

Digital

  • Oversee the creation and execution of all digital and online content.
  • Recommend improvements to website design and operation, as well as all other corporate digital channels.
  • Guide SEO and related vendor relationships to optimize digital traffic and conversion.
  • Ensure online presence is reflective of Smart Communications leadership in digital conversations

PR/AR

  • Promote products, services, industry strength and thought leadership through ownership of global public relations strategy and management of execution
  • Oversee the development of marketing communications campaigns by understanding media coverage and industry trends and developing fresh story ideas to propel Smart Communications forward.
  • Manage a team responsible for the creation and delivery of global press releases, media relations content, case studies, infographics, executive bios, corporate newsletter content, digital content, analyst relations content, award submissions and speaking proposals
  • Develop the PR/AR strategies with dedicated Manager to improve engagement and accountability for impact.

Events

  • Develop the strategy in conjunction with Events Director to deliver strategic events that support the overall marketing and sales strategy and pipeline goals.
  • Work closely with executives, senior leaders, and stakeholders to define messaging, agenda, speakers, training, and pre/during/post event content marketing strategy.
  • Drive the strategy for event communications, both internally and externally
  • Manage processes internally aligned with demand generation and marketing operations to ensure smooth end to end planning and execution.
  • Manage the event budget and set success criteria, measure, and report out the impact of each major event on awareness, engagement, and pipeline acceleration metrics to validate ROI.

Customer Advocacy

  • Build strategy with Customer Advocacy Manager to execute marketing programs to achieve advocacy targets
  • Identify innovative strategies to drive advocates for customer case studies, sales opportunity velocity, thought leadership programs, and more
  • Oversee the design, development, execution, and measurement of creative communications, such as newsletters, surveys, webinars, etc.
  • Develop the strategy to improve our third-party review (e.g. G2, Gartner Peer Review) programs for high volume and high quality reviews
  • Create an advocacy program that encourages satisfied customers to proactively recommend Smart Communications

What we’re looking for:

Must have skills/experience:

  • Excellent Management and mentoring skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience managing communications in both US and European regions
  • Familiarity and comfort with SalesForce, Marketo, WordPress, and an ability to leverage these tools for optimal interaction
  • Demonstrable experience in technology marketing
  • Minimum of 4 years corporate communications experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of team management experience
  • Willingness to travel
  • BS degree required

  • Prior experience successfully managing PR and AR strategies
